The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Partridge has a takedown stuffed. Partridge scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Partridge slips a nice elbow through Pickens's hands, connecting with Pickens's forehead. Partridge trying to control the action but Pickens is working from the bottom. Partridge seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pickens does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Partridge must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Pickens is looking for a triangle but Partridge pushes his legs off easily.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Partridge avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Partridge accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Partridge is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Partridge scoring with punches to the head and body. Pickens keeping full guard, as Partridge tries to pass. Pickens has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Partridge can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
