7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roberto Gracie! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jones.
Jones looks to land a left hand but Gracie moved out of range nicely. Gracie showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jones.
Jones keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Jones throws a series of punches but Gracie avoids them all with ease. Jones lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Jones dips to his left and cracks Gracie with an uppercut! Gracie fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Jim Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roberto Gracie. Gracie avoids a punch combination nicely.
Jones is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Gracie on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Jones fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Gracie on the side of the head. Jones looks to land a combination but Gracie avoids it well.

Jones throws a hook but Gracie avoids it easily. Jones tries to bum rush Gracie with a series of wild strikes but Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Gracie has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Jones finds it's way round the side to connect with Gracie's head. Gracie throws a combination that misses and Jones counters with a left and a right that stings Gracie. Jones scores with a sloppy right hand. Gracie should have avoided that one. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jones misses with a straight left. A shot to de liver by Jones. Beautiful body shot. Gracie shoots and misses and Jones counters with a left and a right that stings Gracie. Gracie misses with a takedown attempt and Jones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Gracie looks gassed! Gracie misses with a takedown and Jones counters with a series of strikes. Gracie will be more careful next time no doubt. Jones falls off balance throwing a combination

Gracie works his way back into a safe position though. Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gracie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Gracie wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position. Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Jones throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones working for a triangle but Gracie defends it easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jones is refusing to be controlled, as Gracie sits in half guard. Gracie is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Jones moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Gracie bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Gracie thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Jones manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Jones flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Gracie is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jones defends it well. Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Gracie is looking to clinch. Gracie doesn't succeed with the takedown and Jones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Jones lands with a nice body punch. Jim Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Gracie takes one to the side of the head.
Gracie shoots and misses and Jones counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Gracie with a lazy takedown attempt and Jones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Jim Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roberto Gracie. Jones throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Gracie stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Danga de danga de dang - Jones scores with a four punch combination! Jim Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones jabs Gracie right on the nose. Gracie blinks but takes it well.

Left hook, right uppercut from Jones. Jones is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gracie has his takedown stuffed and Jones connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Jones lands a jab-cross combination. Jones lands with an overhand left. Jones is working the combinations to good effect here. Jones stalks Gracie and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Gracie's face. Gracie staggers backwards, shaken. Jones scores with a hook to the body. Gracie takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Jones scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gracie doesn't seem bothered though. Nice jab there from Jones. Jones fails to land with a series of punches.

Jim Jones is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. This has been an exciting period of action! Jones chips away with some ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Jones has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Jones stands and steps away. Gracie gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Jones scores with a sloppy right hand. Gracie should have avoided that one. Jones scores with a jab to the head.
