Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Charles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pete Roberts!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Percy O'Donnell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Charles drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Roberts wants to sweep but no luck.
Charles controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Roberts tries to strike from the bottom.

Charles trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Roberts can do anything to dispel that myth.
Charles chips away with some ground and pound.
Roberts is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Charles forces his way into half guard.
Roberts is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Roberts is refusing to be controlled, as Charles sits in half guard.
Charles wants to stand but Roberts has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Roberts misses with some strikes from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roberts flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Charles takes the fight into the clinch.
Charles jumps into guard, dragging Roberts to the mat.

Roberts is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Oh Charles is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Roberts is working Charles over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Roberts arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Charles's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
