The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pe fails with an attempt to clinch.
Pe shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gomes as he avoids it easily.
Pe pushes Gomes away with a front kick.
A swing and a miss from Gomes.
Pe is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Pe pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gomes throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Pe tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gomes sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pe somewhat.
Pe fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Raphael Gomes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ja Pe.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gomes drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gomes cracks Pe with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Gomes immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Pe is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Gomes!
