Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darwin Zambrano (ranked 2854 p4p, 3153 weight class) and Jim Beam (ranked 387 p4p, 417 weight class). Darwin Zambrano could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jim Beam's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Darwin Zambrano! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Beam! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Ren Mimura and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A decent looking cross lands there for Beam. Beam lands a glancing blow to the side of Zambrano's head.
It looks like Darwin Zambrano has been cut. Beam uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Zambrano.
Beam throws a jab when Zambrano was well out of range. Beam slips a jab from Zambrano. Beam bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Zambrano's head. Beam misses with a body kick. Beam throws a series of punches but Zambrano moves out of range. Beam throws a right hand that Zambrano ducks under and follows up with a left that Zambrano also avoids with ease. Zambrano lands a jab to the nose. Beam's jab looks to have found its range, popping Zambrano under the eye. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Zambrano lands with a shot to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zambrano moves in looking to clinch but Beam pushes him off. Beam looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it. Beam will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Zambrano ducks under a wild hook from Beam. Beam tries to close the distance and clinch up but Zambrano swats him away and circles back towards the center. Zambrano thinks about countering with a head kick. Zambrano blocks a head kick by Beam.
Beam jabbing away but nothing is landing. We've been hearing reports that Zambrano has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Beam throws an off balance right hand
and Zambrano counters with a leg kick. Beam changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Zambrano looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Beam landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. You can see the frustration on Zambrano's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Beam passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Zambrano! Zambrano sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Beam lands strikes from half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Zambrano has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Beam is working away from the top position though. Zambrano manages to get to full guard.
Beam trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Beam thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Zambrano working a defensive guard here.
Beam trying to control but Zambrano is working from the bottom. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Zambrano is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Beam defends well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Beam scoring with some ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Beam avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Zambrano trying to keep a closed guard but Beam is proving a slippery customer.
Beam pushes down on Zambrano's leg and manages to get into half guard. Beam wants to pass the guard but Zambrano is defending well. The fighters are battling for position here. Zambrano manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Beam with a flurry of punches that miss. Zambrano trying to keep a closed guard but Beam is proving a slippery customer.
Beam postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Beam pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Zambrano is keeping the position for now. Zambrano not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Beam has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Beam passes Zambrano's left leg - he's now in half guard. Beam looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Zambrano is defending against the submission attempts here by Beam.
Zambrano manages to get to full guard.
Beam wants to control from the top but Zambrano keeps moving. Beam wanted to stand there but Zambrano had control of the position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jim Beam dominated that round. The cut man is working on Darwin Zambrano's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Zambrano digs a good body shot into Beam's ribs. Beam closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Zambrano to the mat! Zambrano manages to get full guard. Zambrano pushes Beam off and scrambles back to his feet.
Beam moves away from the strike by Zambrano. Zambrano bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Beam's head backwards. Jim Beam seems to be getting the better of the standup. Zambrano blocks a jab. Zambrano thinks about countering with a head kick. Zambrano throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Beam tries to move into range but Zambrano moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
It looks like Jim Beam has been cut. Beam on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Zambrano. Zambrano obviously looking to wear him down.
Beam shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Zambrano's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beam cracks Zambrano with a solid left hand. Zambrano is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Zambrano looking for a sweep. Not yet Zambrano, not yet. Beam distracts Zambrano with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Beam trying to control but Zambrano is working from the bottom. Zambrano utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Beam looking to sit in guard and control but Zambrano gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Zambrano avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Beam has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Zambrano can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Zambrano pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Beam is keeping the position for now. Beam keeping moving, preventing Zambrano from controlling successfully. Beam manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Zambrano manages to get himself to full guard.
Zambrano looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Zambrano working for a triangle but Beam defends it easily.
Beam pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Zambrano is keeping the position for now. Zambrano is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Beam landing with the ground and pound. Beam postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Beam stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zambrano swivels though and keeps the full guard. Beam cracks Zambrano with a solid left hand. Zambrano looking to control.
Beam in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Beam throwing strikes from guard but Zambrano blocks nicely. Beam trying to control but Zambrano is working from the bottom. Beam is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Beam slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Beam wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Zambrano, who protects the arm well. Zambrano pushes Beam away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Beam gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Zambrano on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Beam thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Zambrano is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Beam off and has taken his back! Beam defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Zambrano's arms. Zambrano has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Beam has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Darwin Zambrano dominated that second round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round! Beam ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Zambrano moves away. Zambrano lunges at Beam with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Beam's hand. Beam closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Zambrano did well to prevent Beam getting side control. Zambrano has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Beam is working away from the top position though. Beam is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Zambrano is just riding it out for now. Beam eventually gives up the hold. Jim Beam has got the better of the ground game so far. Beam trying to pass the guard but Zambrano defending well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Beam working over Zambrano with some ground and pound. Zambrano looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Beam is trying to work for a kimura but Zambrano is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zambrano on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Zambrano is looking for a sweep. Beam is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Beam working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Beam looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Zambrano is trying to maintain the position but Beam is very close to passing his half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Beam stops Zambrano from getting back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Beam prevents Zambrano from improving his position. Zambrano has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Beam is working away from the top position though. Zambrano regains full guard. Nicely done. Zambrano is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Beam lands a couple of elbows. Zambrano looking to hit a scissor sweep but Beam is one step ahead there. Beam trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Beam is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zambrano is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Beam scoring with punches to the head and body. Beam throwing strikes but missing. Zambrano is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Beam defends well. Zambrano working for submissions but it's allowed Beam to get to half guard.
Zambrano is looking to control Beam's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Zambrano avoid being mounted? Zambrano is looking to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Zambrano on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Beam is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Zambrano! Zambrano is trying to escape the mount.
Beam pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Beam lands a big shot there that rocks Zambrano but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Beam swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Zambrano is now in Beam's guard. A big mistake from Beam there, giving up the dominant position! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Beam escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Zambrano gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Beam is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
And that's the end of the fight! Jim Beam comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Beam has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Jim Beam! In his post fight interview, Jim Beam started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
