The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferg is looking to clinch but Stevie is avoiding it.

Stevie's coach down at Cali Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Stevie's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Stevie tries to keep at a distance but Ferg has taken the fight into the clinch.

Stevie throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Ferg escapes and throws Stevie's legs to the side, diving into side control!
We've been hearing good reports from Ferg's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Stevie is looking to reverse the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ferg has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Stevie is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Ferg yanks on the arm and Stevie is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Ferg.
