Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sam Diego (ranked 1530 p4p, 1656 weight class) and Daniel Sanninen (ranked 233 p4p, 249 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanninen's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Diego connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Sanninen scrambles back to his feet.
Sanninen misses with a body kick.
Diego uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sanninen.
Diego fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Sanninen misses with a series of wild punches.
Diego swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Diego lands with a shot to the body.
Sanninen scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Sanninen moves forwards but Diego connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Sanninen throws a body punch but Diego moves out of range.
We've been told by Diego's head coaches at Brooklyn Mixed Martial Arts that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Sanninen scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Diego avoids the head kick by Sanninen.
Diego throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
It seemed like Sanninen was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Sanninen takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Diego throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Sanninen on the side of the head.

Diego wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Sanninen has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Sanninen uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Diego.
Sanninen gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Diego gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
