Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ultima Koivisto (ranked 51 p4p, 223 weight class) and Kollaa River (ranked 5 p4p, 27 weight class). River has chosen For Heavy Metal we will die! as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ultima Koivisto!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kollaa River!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
River slips under a jab.
River misses with a straight right.
Koivisto throws a half hearted mid kick.
River lands a nice leg kick that just misses Koivisto's sensitive parts.
Koivisto misses with a wild body shot.
Koivisto steps to the side to avoid the strikes from River.
Koivisto connects with a leg kick.
Koivisto is looking to clinch.
Koivisto pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
River is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
River misses with a two punch combination.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from River. Koivisto shrugs it off though.
Koivisto throws out a powerful jab.
River pulls out of a head kick attempt.
River is looking to chop away at Koivisto's legs.
Koivisto throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Koivisto tries to clinch up.

River gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

River is looking for a sweep. Koivisto is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

River tries to roll over but Koivisto keeps him under control.
River makes his way to full guard. A much better position for River.
Koivisto wants to control from the top but River keeps moving.

Koivisto is fighting to break River's control of his arms but River is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
River is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
River missing with a left hand there. Koivisto was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A kick lands to the mid section there for River.
River throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
River displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Koivisto throws out the jab.
Koivisto loads up on a big right hand but River slips the punch.
And River tries to counter it with a takedown but Koivisto pushes his down on his head and steps out.
River throws the kick towards the body but Koivisto avoids it.
River misses with a hook.
River connects with a looping right hand.
River walks into a left hand.
River misses with a looping right.

Koivisto looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for River!
River sneaks back into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

River moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

River had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Koivisto defends it easily.
River wants to sweep here but Koivisto controlling him for the moment.
River seems keen to control Koivisto's posture.
River looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Koivisto puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
River is trying to get back to full guard.
Ground and pound from Koivisto.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ultima Koivisto dominated that round.
That's time! Koivisto's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

River shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
River looks to land a right hand but Koivisto moved out of range.
River stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
River connects with a crisp jab.
Koivisto throws a hook but River avoids it easily.
Koivisto tries to clinch but River moves out of range.
Koivisto finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! River crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Koivisto - the referee stops the clock and River gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Koivisto. River manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Koivisto throws a body shot but no joy.
River uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Koivisto.
Koivisto throws a jab when River was well out of range.
Koivisto looks to land a left hand but River moved out of range nicely.
Koivisto fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. River looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Koivisto fails with an attempt to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
River tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Koivisto was well out of range. Poor timing from River.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
River takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
River misses with a kick to the body.
A big left from River misses.
River fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Koivisto on the side of the head.

River shoots in but no luck this time.

Koivisto feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Rivers jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
River misses with a body shot.
River tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Koivisto was well out of range. Poor timing from River.
A little feinted left hand from Koivisto on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
River moves out of range of the strikes.
Koivisto misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
River swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Koivisto is looking to counter punch.
River throws a right hand that misses
and Koivisto counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Koivisto attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
River throws a jab when Koivisto was well out of range.
River keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Koivisto.
Koivisto throws an uppercut from half a mile away. River sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Ultima Koivisto is winning the standup battle so far.
Koivisto tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
River lands with a shot to the body.
Koivisto goes for a double leg but River avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as River continues to drive forward.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, River creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Koivisto working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

This has been an exciting period of action!
River misses with the head strike.

River works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Koivisto is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Koivisto bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in River's guard.

Koivisto lands a couple of digs.
Koivisto won't allow River to sweep him here.
Koivisto not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

River is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Koivisto defends well.
Koivisto controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
River is looking to sweep but instead, Koivisto has passed into half guard.
Koivisto is looking to take a break and control but River is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
River is trying to control but can't.
River makes his way to full guard. A much better position for River.

Koivisto throws an uppercut from half a mile away. River sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A nice leg kick lands there from Koivisto.

Koivisto dives in and scores a takedown into River's guard.

River is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Koivisto frees his head nicely. Oh but River has switched to an armbar! Koivisto is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Kollaa River!
Kollaa River is the new lightweight champion!
A relieved looking Kollaa River thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
