Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Brockington (ranked 2011 p4p, 2542 weight class) and Orion Struss (ranked 257 p4p, 311 weight class). Struss has chosen Lil Gnar - New Bugatti as his entrance music. Orion Struss will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 15 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Kevin Brockington! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Orion Struss! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Struss cracks Brockington with an open hand slap. Struss lands a lovely overhand right. Struss misses with a lunging right hand
and Brockington counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Struss has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Brockington is working away from the top position though. Brockington is trying to control the action in half guard but Struss is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Struss is looking to escape. Brockington is trying to work for a kimura but Struss is defending well.
Struss keeping control of the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brockington not landing any meaningful shots this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Struss is trying to stand up here but Brockington is controlling him well. Struss is doing well to control the position and prevent Brockington from advancing to side control. Brockington definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Struss is trying to stand.
Brockington stands up out of the half guard. Brockington drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Struss avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Brockington. Brockington tries for a kimura but Struss is defending well. Brockington tries to advance to mount but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brockington is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Struss knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Brockington creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Struss sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Brockington wants to lay and pray for a moment but Struss keeps working. Struss manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Struss is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Brockington looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Struss is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Brockington reverses the position - he's now on top in Struss's guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Struss pushes Brockington off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Struss throws a hook to the side of Brockington's head but Brockington sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. A jab from Struss misses. Brockington is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Jab, jab by Struss - just one landing. Struss throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brockington feints and as Struss raises his hands in defense, Brockington changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Struss pushes Brockington off and gets back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Orion Struss is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Struss misses the jab. Brockington avoids a punch combination nicely.
Brockington changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Struss misses with a straight right. Brockington shoots in and bounces Struss off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Brockington tries to free his leg and advance position but Struss is retaining full guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Orion Struss dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Struss throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Brockington. Struss delivers a nice body kick. This fight brought to you by 5M nutrition - it's mmmmm tasty. Nice jab by Struss. Brockington ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Struss fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Brockington takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Struss has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Struss ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Brockington moves away. Brockington feinted with a counter takedown. Struss throws a right hand that Brockington ducks under and follows up with a left that Brockington also avoids with ease. Brockington blocks a jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Struss throws a body shot but no joy. Struss fails to land with a series of punches.
Struss scores with a hook to the body. Brockington takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Struss misses with a wild combination.
Struss scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Brockington gets the takedown into side control. Struss throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Brockington darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Struss manages to escape and get back to his feet!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brockington looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Brockington won't allow Struss to get back to his feet. Brockington trying to control the position from guard on top but Struss is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Brockington wants to pass the guard but Struss is keeping the position. Struss managing to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brockington trying to control but Struss is working from the bottom. Struss has his hands on Brockington's head, controlling the position. Brockington looking to pass the guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Brockington closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Struss to the mat! Struss manages to get full guard. Struss has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Brockington is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Struss breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Struss misses with a two punch combination.
Brockington shoots in for a takedown and gets it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Brockington trying to control the action but Struss is working from the bottom. Brockington not landing any meaningful shots this time. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Struss pushes Brockington off looking to stand but Brockington dives back in and keeps control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Orion Struss showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Brockington decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Struss has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Brockington is on him like a limpet, forcing Struss back against the cage. Brockington has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Struss regains guard immediately. Brockington is standing up over Struss. Struss looks to escape but Brockington dives into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Brockington wants to lay and pray for a moment but Struss keeps working. Brockington swings around for an armbar but Struss sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Brockington's guard. Struss controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Struss looking to pass the guard. Brockington working for submissions but it's allowed Struss to get to half guard.
Orion Struss has got the better of the ground game so far. Struss wants to free his trapped foot but Brockington is holding on for dear life with his legs. Brockington trying to control from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Struss controlling the action here. Brockington actively working from the bottom here. Brockington moves into full guard.
Struss is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brockington is trying to keep Struss in close.
Brockington is really struggling to control Struss but he's trying to hold on to the position. Struss stands up and waves to Brockington to follow him. Struss looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Brockington slips under a jab. Brockington is looking to counter punch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Struss keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Brockington fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Struss to the ground. Brockington is now in Struss's guard. Brockington advances to half guard. Struss pushes Brockington off looking to stand but Brockington dives back in and keeps control.
Struss manages to escape and get back to his feet! Kevin Brockington has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Brockington throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Orion Struss is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Brockington throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Struss tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Brockington is in Struss's guard. Brockington throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Struss works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Struss is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Brockington cracks Struss with a solid left hand.
And that's the end of the fight! Orion Struss comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Struss has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
