PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Teppo Raju (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Teppo Raju has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Teppo Raju!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andrew Brown!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Raju.
Brown tries to work over Raju's front leg with a kick but Raju checks it.
Raju has a takedown stuffed.
Raju shoots for a double leg takedown but Brown sprawls well. He's pushed Raju's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Teppo Raju. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Raju closes the distance and clinches up with Brown, looking for a takedown. Raju pushes Brown against the cage but Brown circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Brown lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

and Brown counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Brown seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Brown wants to take a breather but Raju is having none of it.
Brown is pressing down on Raju's thigh, looking to free his foot. Raju is holding on for now.
Raju wants to get back to full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Brown closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Raju gets back to half guard.

Raju is defending against the submission attempts here by Brown.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brown thows a huge punch but Raju dodges it nicely.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Brown shoots in and bounces Raju off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Raju manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Brown manages to get himself to full guard.

Brown escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Raju gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Raju working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Brown is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Raju gets the takedown into side control.
Raju wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brown keeps working.
Raju is breathing heavily.
Brown tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Raju wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Raju works to advance to full mount. Brown defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Raju prevents Brown from getting the reversal.

Raju loads up on a big right hand but Brown slips the punch.
Raju tries for a takedown but Brown circles away easily

and Brown counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Brown wanted to stand there but Raju had control of the position.

Raju is looking for a triangle but Brown pushes his legs off easily.
Raju looking for a sweep. Not yet Raju, not yet.
Raju has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Brown stands up from Raju's guard - Brown perhaps looking for a knockout.

Brown closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Raju to the mat! Raju manages to get full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Andrew Brown comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Brown has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
