Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Jones (ranked 4357 p4p, 24971 weight class) and Bob Balch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ricky Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bob Balch!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Balch did well to prevent Jones getting side control.

Balch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Jones seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Balch for as long as he can get away with.

As Jones backs off Balch throws a huge counter combo but Jones manages to avoid it all.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Balch is looking to regain half guard here but Jones keeps moving and retains side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Jones looks up at the clock and then as Balch takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jones smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The referee asks Jones politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Jones prefers to stall for the moment though.

Jones remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Jones's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Jones has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Balch's face.

Jones wants to finish this one by submission but Balch is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Jones.
Jones postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Balch looks a forlorn figure.
Jones takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
