PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Santino Lombardo (ranked 990 p4p, 1857 weight class) and Arturo Caldeira (ranked 136 p4p, 235 weight class). Lombardo comes to the cage accompanied by Illusions. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arturo Caldeira!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Paul Tew.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caldeira tries to clinch but Lombardo is having none of it.
Caldeira tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lombardo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Good exchange - Caldeira coming out on top.
Caldeira misses with a head kick.
Caldeira shoots in looking for a takedown. Lombardo tries to sprawl out of it but Caldeira keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lombardo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Caldeira drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Caldeira is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lombardo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
You can see the frustration on Lombardo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Lombardo has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Caldeira is trying to get an arm triangle but Lombardo is defending well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Caldeira wants to control but Lombardo is keeping him busy.

Caldeira moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Lombardo has worked his arm free - good work by Lombardo!
