PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Viikinki (ranked 2204 p4p, 3028 weight class) and Mini Mac Marvez (ranked 69 p4p, 97 weight class). Marvez is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: I wish I was a lil bit taller by- TOO SHORT. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tony Viikinki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mini Mac Marvez!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Steve Montenegro and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marvez feints and as Viikinki raises his hands in defense, Marvez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Viikinki utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Viikinki wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Viikinki on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Viikinki tries to get out of the position.
Marvez trying to control the position from guard on top but Viikinki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Viikinki looking for a sweep. Not yet Viikinki, not yet.
Marvez looking to sit in guard and control but Viikinki gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Marvez pulls Viikinki in close to prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marvez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Viikinki is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Marvez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Marvez wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Viikinki is now in half guard.
Marvez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Viikinki is controlling the pace.
Viikinki passes into side control, despite Marvez's attempt to control the position.
Marvez looking for a sweep but Viikinki has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Viikinki controlling the position easily from mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marvez wants to hold on but Viikinki pushes him away.
Marvez is in all sorts of trouble here.
Viikinki sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Marvez is working to get back to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marvez keeps trying to improve his position.
Marvez wants to control but Viikinki is having none of it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Viikinki controlling from the full mount.
Marvez is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Viikinki content just to control the position here.
Marvez is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Marvez keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tony Viikinki dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Marvez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Marvez working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Marvez working the strikes but Viikinki uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Viikinki is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Marvez thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Marvez misses with a head shot. Viikinki uses the momentum to regain guard.
Marvez is looking to advance position but Viikinki has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Marvez can't escape the position.
Marvez tries to hold on but Viikinki pushes him away.
Marvez is trying desperately to improve position.
Viikinki controlling his opponent.
Viikinki is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Marvez can do to turn this around?
Marvez is working to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Viikinki takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Marvez regains half guard.
Viikinki looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Marvez wants to control but Viikinki is keeping busy.
Viikinki stalling.
Marvez tries to get to full guard but Viikinki has control of the leg.
Viikinki takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Viikinki has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A swing and a miss from Viikinki.
Marvez changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Marvez.
A counter left hand to the body from Viikinki misses its target.
Marvez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Nice takedown defense from Viikinki. No joy for Marvez on that attempt.
Marvez fails with the takedown.
Tony Viikinki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mini Mac Marvez.
Marvez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mini Mac Marvez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Marvez on the wrong end of a nice jab.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tony Viikinki dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Marvez shoots in for a takedown but Viikinki shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Viikinki appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

It looks like Mini Mac Marvez has been cut.
Marvez looks to throw the jab but Viikinki is out of range.
Marvez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Viikinki as he avoids it easily.
Marvez moves out of range as Viikinki strikes.
Marvez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Viikinki counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Tony Viikinki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mini Mac Marvez.
Viikinki scores with a nice right hand.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Marvez.
Viikinki is looking for a counter combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marvez throws a combination that misses
and Viikinki counters with a stiff right hand.
Marvez rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Viikinki counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Marvez thinking.
Marvez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Marvez takes one to the chin there.

Viikinki drops Marvez with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Marvez looks back up at him and smiles so Viikinki waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Marvez is rocked!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Marvez takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Marvez is still on wobbly legs! Can Viikinki finish him?
Viikinki connects with a stiff jab that staggers Marvez - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Tony Viikinki!
Tony Viikinki bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
