Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Di Pinha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugo Romao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hugo Romao will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Di Pinha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hugo Romao!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Romao fails to land with a series of punches.
Romao misses with a series of wild punches.
Romao pivots, looking for a leg kick but Pinha is out of range and Romao settles back down.
Romao scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Pinha fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Romao scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Romao decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Romao throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pinha.
Romao takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pinha swings for the body but Romao moves out of range.
Pinha shoots in for a takedown but Romao shows good takedown defense.
Romao misses with a two punch combination.
Romao throws a series of punches but Pinha moves out of range.
Pinha stuffs the takedown attempt from Romao. Romao gets slowly back to his feet.

Pinha thows a left - swing and a miss!

Pinha feints and as Romao raises his hands in defense, Pinha changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Romao is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Pinha dives into side control.
Romao wants to get back to his feet but Pinha drags him back down.

Pinha stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Pinha fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Di Pinha. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pinha shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pinha showed some decent athleticism there.
Romao really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pinha. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Pinha shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Romao's guard.

Romao closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pinha to the mat! Pinha manages to get full guard.
Romao is looking to work some ground and pound but Pinha has wrist control.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Pinha holds on and takes a little breather.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Romao throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pinha works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hugo Romao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pinha.
Pinha looks for a takedown but Romao sprawls well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Romao wants to stand and escape but Pinha is having none of it.
Romao bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pinha's guard.
Pinha is looking to stand up but Romao isn't so interested in that idea.

Pinha working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Romao doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Romao manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Romao stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pinha swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Romao has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pinha is proving hard to escape from.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Romao wants to stand and escape but instead Pinha has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That was a close second round but I would say that Di Pinha will probably get the nod.

Romao moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Romao misses with a few strikes there.
Pinha tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Romao swivels and escapes.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Pinha wants to stand up but Romao has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Pinha is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Romao defends it well.

Di Pinha overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Romao is looking for a sweep. Pinha is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Romao is looking to escape.
Romao tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Pinha manages to move to mount!

Pinha is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Romao can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Pinha is going olschool here, as he tries to force Romao to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Romao shrugs it off.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Romao holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Pinha tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Pinha working for a guillotine from mount but Romao is in no mood to give up.
Romao really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Pinha thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Romao tries to reverse the position but Pinha maintains control.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Di Pinha.
I think Pinha has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
