PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Milo Andrianakis (ranked 200 p4p, 315 weight class) and Kareem Johnson (ranked 26 p4p, 44 weight class). Andrianakis comes to the cage accompanied by The Andy Milonakis Theme Song. Kareem Johnson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Milo Andrianakis!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kareem Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Andrianakis throws a right hand that misses
and Johnson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Andrianakis throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Andrianakis takes a swing at Johnson's ribcage but misses.
It seemed like Johnson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Johnson missing with a left hand there. Andrianakis was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Andrianakis connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Andrianakis lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Andrianakis throws a series of punches but Johnson avoids them all with ease.
Johnson feints a counter leg kick.
Andrianakis misses with a two punch combination.
Johnson looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.

Johnson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Johnson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Andrianakiss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Johnson on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Johnson, as that shot connected.
We've been told by Andrianakis's head coaches at Marty Robbin's Fight Ranch that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A big right from Andrianakis misses.
Johnson jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Andrianakis throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Johnson looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Johnson throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Andrianakis takes the fight into the clinch.
Johnson is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Andrianakis lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Johnson or not.
Johnson can't find room to land a body shot as Andrianakis controls the action.
A nice right hand lands inside from Andrianakis.
Andrianakis misses with a hook from the clinch.

Johnson manages to break the clinch.
Johnson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

enabling Johnson to counter with a crisp jab.
Andrianakis comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Andrianakis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Johnson lunges at Andrianakis with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Andrianakis's hand.
Andrianakis misses with a wild body shot.
Johnson on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Johnson throws a shot from downtown. Andrianakis moves away and avoids it.
Nice defenses there by Johnson.
Johnson lands a jab-cross combination.
Andrianakis misses with a looping right.
Johnson defending well as Andrianakis loads up on a big left hand.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Johnson! But no joy.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Andrianakis connects with a body shot.

Andrianakis rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Johnson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Johnson tries a quick counter leg kick but Andrianakis is wise to it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Milo Andrianakis will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Kareem Johnson's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Andrianakis ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Johnson moves away.

and Andrianakis counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Andrianakis takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Johnson throws a hook to the side of Andrianakis's head but Andrianakis sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Andrianakis connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Johnson's hands.
Johnson is looking to slow Andrianakis down with leg kicks.

Johnson appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Andrianakis thuds his right hand into Johnson's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Johnson throws out a leg kick but Andrianakis moves out of range and Johnson only half commits.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Andrianakis has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Andrianakis there as he acknowledges the shot.

Andrianakis lands a big right hand that sends Johnson crashing to the mat! Andrianakis stays standing though and waves Johnson back to his feet!

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Johnson lands a nice leg kick that just misses Andrianakis's sensitive parts.

and Johnson counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Johnson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Andrianakis momentarily.

Johnson cracks Andrianakis with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
A chopping leg kick lands by Johnson.

Johnson feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Andrianakis sprawling to the canvas! Andrianakis rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Johnson finish him?!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Johnson cracks Andrianakis with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Andrianakis falls to his knees and Johnson doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kareem Johnson!
Kareem Johnson is the new middleweight champion!
During a confident post fight interview, Kareem Johnson thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
Milo Andrianakis spoke after the fight, saying 'I had sadness for breakfast'.
