Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Doran Connell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Calvin Converse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Connell comes to the cage accompanied by House of Pain - Jump Around. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Doran Connell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Calvin Converse!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, James Glass and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Connell tries to land a knee to the head but Converse blocks with his arms.
Converse tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Connell just stands there and leans against the cage.
Connell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Converse has had enough of the clinch but Connell keeps him there for the moment.

Converse has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Connell uses from the top position.
Converse avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Converse has had enough of the clinch but Connell keeps him there for the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Connell landing strikes from the mount.
Connell pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

The referee warns Converse that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Connell is going olschool here, as he tries to force Converse to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Converse shrugs it off.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Connell counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Connell won't allow Converse to get back to his feet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Connell accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Connell seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Converse working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Connell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Connell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well Connell has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
