PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Klarney Wilson Jr (ranked 4419 p4p, 6055 weight class) and Majid Ali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Majid Ali told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Klarney Wilson Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Majid Ali!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilson Jr throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Wilson Jr dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Ali. That did some damage!
Klarney Wilson Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wilson Jr throws a sloppy head kick
and Ali counters with a left to the body.
Wilson Jr fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ali.
Ali throws a head kick that misses.

Ali rushes Wilson Jr and presses him up against the cage.
Wilson Jr prevents the takedown attempt.

Wilson Jr is fighting off a takedown attempt but Ali is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Wilson Jr to the mat. Wilson Jr regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Ali passes Wilson Jr's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Ali is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ali is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

It looks like Ali might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Ali stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Wilson Jr misses with a low kick.

Ali gets a clinch.
Ali drops down looking for an ankle pick but Wilson Jr pulls his leg out and moves away.

Ali wants to clinch but Wilson Jr slips to the side
and Wilson Jr counters with a slapping leg kick.

Ali clinches up with Wilson Jr and pushes him back against the cage.
Wilson Jr swings wildly with an uppercut but Ali uses good head movement to avoid it.

Wilson Jr pushes Ali back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Wilson Jr tries to break the clinch but Ali is controlling the position.
Wilson Jr has Ali pressed against the cage, preventing Ali from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Wilson Jr tries a knee to the head but Ali blocks it.
Wilson Jr could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Wilson Jr keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ali's efforts to push away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wilson Jr has Ali pressed against the cage, preventing Ali from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Ali is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Wilson Jr to keep the fight standing.
Klarney Wilson Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Majid Ali.
Ali wants a takedown but no success here.

A close round but Majid Ali will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Ali shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ali showed some decent athleticism there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Wilson Jr tries to hold on but Ali pushes him away.
Wilson Jr in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ali takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Wilson Jr defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Ali.

Ali jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Wilson Jr manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Majid Ali has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ali is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Wilson Jr can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Majid Ali showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Ali looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Ali is taking a breather. Wilson Jr says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Ali postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Wilson Jr to stand up.
Wilson Jr wants to clinch but Ali slips to the side

and Ali counters with a shoot takedown. Wilson Jr fights it but they end up in guard.

Ali stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Wilson Jr to get to his feet.
Wilson Jr lets loose with a powerful body kick. Ali will feel that in the morning.
Wilson Jr tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Wilson Jr looks to land a left hand but Ali moved out of range nicely.

Ali gets a double leg takedown into Wilson Jr's guard.
Ali advances position into side control!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ali has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Ali has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ali drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ali's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Ali stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Wilson Jr throws a lazy head kick
and Ali counters with a left and a right... and another left... and another!! That last one turned off the lights! Wilson Jr has no idea who he is and is as he gazes up at the spotlights. Brutal knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Majid Ali!
