Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Cooper (ranked 793 p4p, 3307 weight class) and Dez Havok (ranked 107 p4p, 407 weight class). Cooper's entrance music is Tale of Cu Chulainn. A fine choice. Sam Cooper has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sam Cooper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dez Havok! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yuuki Gou and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cooper closes the distance and clinches. Havok fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Havok breaks the clinch.
Havok has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Cooper clinches with his opponent.
Cooper lands with a left to the head. Havok manages to break the clinch.
Havok tries to clinch but Cooper is having none of it. Cooper is looking to counter the offense by Havok and move into the clinch. Havok throws a sloppy head kick and Cooper moves out of range easily. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Cooper gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Havok tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Havok is trying to break free. Cooper lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Cooper keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Havok's efforts to push away. Cooper keeps control of Havok as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Cooper stalling against the cage.
Havok is trying to break free. Cooper has picked Havok up - he's going for a ride! Cooper dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Havok trying to get back to full guard but Cooper takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Cooper takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Cooper has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Cooper throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Havok tries to hold on but Cooper postures up. Cooper working away from the top, dropping strikes. Cooper content just to control the position here. Havok bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Havok wants to pass the guard but Cooper is keeping the position. Havok prevents Cooper from getting back to his feet. Havok must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Havok wants to pass the guard but Cooper is keeping the position. Havok seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Let's hope that Havok has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Sam Cooper dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Havok tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cooper paws at him with a jab and circles away. Cooper fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Havok sprawls well initially but Cooper persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Cooper will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Cooper stalling. Cooper throwing shots but Havok is blocking nicely. Havok is looking to control Cooper's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Havok avoid being mounted? Cooper looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Havok trying to control but Cooper postures up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Good exchange - Havok coming out on top.
It looks like Sam Cooper has been cut. Cooper ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Havok with a body punch. A glancing blow. Havok rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cooper moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Cooper looks to clinch and Havok connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Havok scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Dez Havok seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cooper rushes Havok and presses him up against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Havok pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Cooper feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cooper won't allow Havok to sweep him here. Havok is trying to control the position but Cooper postures up. Sam Cooper overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Havok tries to land a sweep but no joy. Cooper is stalling in the full guard. Cooper wants to pass the guard but Havok is keeping the position. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Havok wants to hit a sweep here but Cooper passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Havok there! Cooper sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Havok is trying to escape the mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Cooper tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Cooper throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Cooper uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Havok. Cooper moves into the clinch. A shot in the inside from Cooper. Havok wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Cooper has him pressed against the cage. Cooper is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Havok can do to turn this around? Havok lands a nice uppercut. Cooper will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Havok up against the cage. Havok is trying to break the clinch but Cooper is controlling him. Cooper misses with a hook from the clinch. Havok breaks the clinch.

Cooper lands with a right to the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cooper scores with an uppercut up the middle. Cooper is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Havok pulls him back up using the underhooks. Cooper misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Cooper. Havok breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Havok is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. A shot in the inside from Cooper. Havok pushes Cooper back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Sam Cooper has scored more points in the clinch so far. Cooper has a couple of punches blocked by Havok.
Cooper misses with a short punch on the inside. Cooper is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Havok gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Cooper closes the distance and clinches up with Havok, looking for a takedown. Cooper pushes Havok against the cage but Havok circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Havok swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Havok throws a shot from downtown. Cooper moves away and avoids it. Havok tries to bum rush Cooper with a series of wild strikes but Cooper uses good footwork to avoid the assault. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Havok tries a head kick but it misses.
As Havok looks to move away, Cooper throws a big counter combo but Havok just gets out of the way. Cooper darts in and clinches Havok up against the cage. Cooper prevents a body shot from Havok. Cooper has Havok pressed against the cage.
Havok lands with a left to the head. Havok breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Cooper clinches up against the cage. Havok tries to break free but Cooper pushes him back against the cage. Havok escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Havok ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cooper moves away. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Havok throws a right and a left that Cooper avoids nicely. Cooper wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Cooper gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Cooper tries a body shot but Havok blocks it.
