PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Danylo Belenuik (ranked 6060 p4p, 5561 weight class) and Jeremy Elbertson (ranked 310 p4p, 293 weight class). Elbertson has chosen RATS, WE'RE RATS as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Danylo Belenuik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeremy Elbertson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Ackerman and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Belenuik drives through with a takedown into guard.
Elbertson working a defensive guard here.
Elbertson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Elbertson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Belenuik gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Elbertson is looking for a triangle but Belenuik pushes his legs off easily.
Elbertson keeping moving, preventing Belenuik from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Belenuik trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Elbertson pulls Belenuik in to control the position.

Belenuik tries to free his leg and advance position but Elbertson is retaining full guard.
Elbertson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Belenuik's guard.


Belenuik has his foot on Elbertson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Elbertson works his way back into a safe position though.

Elbertson uses his free foot to push down on Belenuik's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Belenuik.
Belenuik bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Elbertson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Belenuik manages to get himself to full guard.

Elbertson passes Belenuik's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Belenuik is trying to control but can't.
Belenuik tries to roll over but Elbertson keeps him under control.
Belenuik is staying active underneath Elbertson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Belenuik tries to get to full guard but Elbertson has control of the leg.
Elbertson is looking to take a break and control but Belenuik is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Belenuik has hold of Elbertson's hands but Elbertson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Elbertson looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Elbertson is looking for a kimura but Belenuik is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Elbertson to get the leverage.
Elbertson is stalling here. Belenuik is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Elbertson seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Belenuik has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Elbertson regains half guard.
Elbertson is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

Belenuik seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Elbertson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Elbertson has his hands clasped together around Belenuik's back. He's all about the action.

Belenuik seems to be looking for submissions.

Elbertson is trying is best to control the position here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Elbertson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Elbertson.

Belenuik closes the distance and clinches.
Belenuik throws a head punch that misses.

Belenuik jumps guard and drags Elbertson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Belenuik on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Belenuik tries to get out of the position.
Belenuik looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Elbertson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Belenuik knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Elbertson on the ground.
Elbertson advances to half guard.

Belenuik has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Elbertson is working away from the top position though.
Well, if Elbertson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Elbertson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Elbertson lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Elbertson wants to control but Belenuik is keeping him busy.
Belenuik tries to bench press Elbertson off him but Elbertson keeps the position.
Elbertson moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Elbertson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Belenuik keeps working.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Belenuik is trying to get back to half guard.
Elbertson is chipping away with strikes.
Elbertson working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Elbertson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Belenuik keeps working.

Elbertson is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Belenuik looks calm but he's in trouble here. Elbertson gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Belenuik is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Elbertson lets go of the hold and Belenuik can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jeremy Elbertson!
Jeremy Elbertson looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'Im in debt can anyone spare me some change?'.
