Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dzastins Vilums (ranked 4323 p4p, 2926 weight class) and Niall ODooley (ranked 502 p4p, 364 weight class). Niall ODooley will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vilums fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but ODooley avoids it really well and circles away.
ODooley lands the left hand.
ODooley connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Vilums takes a jab right on the kisser.
ODooley jabs Vilums right on the nose. Vilums blinks but takes it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Left hook, right uppercut from ODooley.

Vilums takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Vilums misses with a takedown attempt
and ODooley counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Vilums gets cracked there but stands up to it.

ODooley catches Vilums with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

ODooley fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Vilums on the side of the head.

Niall ODooley is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Vilums throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. ODooley was covering up waiting for the punch and Vilums finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Vilums drops back looking for a leg! ODooley is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and ODooley manages to kick Vilums off! Vilums jumps back into ODooley's guard.

ODooley wants to stand but Vilums is controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vilums trying to control the position from guard on top but ODooley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vilums is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Vilums won't allow ODooley to get back to his feet.

Vilums drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Vilums jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Vilums stays in close to ODooley's body and controls the position.
ODooley wants to stand and escape but Vilums is having none of it.
Vilums advances to half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Vilums is working for a kimura but ODooley is defending it quite comfortably.
Vilums moves into full mount! ODooley won't be happy about that!
Vilums can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as ODooley is looking to escape.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

ODooley swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Vilums.

ODooley has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
ODooley moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Vilums throws an overhand right that lands on ODooley's shoulder, as ODooley tries to avoid the shot.
ODooley lands with an overhand left.
ODooley has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Vilums tries to move into range but ODooley moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

We've been hearing good reports from Vilums's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Vilums seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. ODooley is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
