PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hugh Honey (ranked 303 p4p, 350 weight class) and Jacque Joteel (ranked 43 p4p, 46 weight class). Honey comes to the cage accompanied by Higher Love. The crowd seem to be enjoying Joteel's choice of entrance music: Moogwalze. Hugh Honey is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hugh Honey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jacque Joteel!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Honey pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Joteel throws a wild body kick that Honey sees coming a mile off.
Joteel uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Honey.
Honey misses the jab.
Joteel appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Joteel moves forwards but Honey connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Joteel looks to land a body kick but Honey moved away.
Honey pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Honey thuds a left hand into Joteel's body.
Joteel looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Honey just misses with a punch to the body.

Honey clinches.
Honey tries to work over Joteel's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Honey breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Joteel drops his hands momentarily and Honey takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Honey wants to clinch.
Honey takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Honey lands with a hook. Joteel tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Honey fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Joteel.
Honey throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Joteel counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Honey tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Joteel counters with a nice body shot.
Joteel misses with a straight left.
Honey swings for the body but Joteel moves out of range.
Joteel buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Honey tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Joteel looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Honey fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Honey is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Honey misses with a series of wild punches.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Honey will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

and Joteel counters with a stiff right hand.
Joteel moves into range and connects with a jab.
Joteel throws a head kick that half lands.
Joteel buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Honey misses the body punch
and Joteel counters with a nice low kick that buckles Honey's knee momentarily.
Honey tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Joteel counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Honey is rocked!
Honey tries to clinch there but Joteel circles away.
Honey misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Joteel.
Honey darts in trying to clinch
and Joteel counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Oh Honey is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Honey switches off momentarily and Joteel cracks him with a monster right hand! Honey topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Joteel dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Joteel!

In his post fight interview, Jacque Joteel started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
