Mercer is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Why Can't We Be Friends by WAR. Bobby Mercer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Adam Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bobby Mercer!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mercer swivels and escapes.
Johnson shoots in but Mercer avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Adam Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mercer misses with a looping left.
Johnson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mercer defends it nicely.
Mercer has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mercer pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Johnson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Johnson dives in for a single leg takedown but Mercer sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Mercer looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Mercer goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johnson breaks from the clinch.
Johnson misses with a wild body shot.
Mercer moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Mercer throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Johnson on the side of the head.
Johnson defending well as Mercer loads up on a big left hand.

Mercer swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Johnson wants to clinch.
Johnson throws a hook but Mercer blocks it.
Johnson throws a right and a left that Mercer avoids nicely.
Mercer looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Mercer uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Johnson tries to clinch but Mercer is having none of it.
Mercer swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Johnson looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Johnson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Mercer is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Mercer has escaped and now he's on top!


Mercer avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mercer wants to get up but he can't break Johnson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Johnson throws his legs up looking for a submission but Mercer uses it to pass to side control.

Johnson is not content to let Mercer control the position.

Mercer decides to stand up, so the ref orders Johnson to his feet.

Johnson tries to clinch there but Mercer circles away.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Mercer.
Mercer digs a good hook to Johnson's body.
Mercer feints with a left and delivers a massive head kick! Johnson collapses like a ragdoll! Game over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Bobby Mercer!
A relieved looking Bobby Mercer thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
