PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Claus Haba (ranked 3191 p4p, 2729 weight class) and Mac Keegan (ranked 193 p4p, 169 weight class). Claus Haba had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 1, fighting out of London, Claus Haba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Mac Keegan!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Haba manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Keegan on his heels. He'll look to pass Keegan's guard now, I'm sure.
Keegan is pulling down on Haba's head to control his posture.
Haba trying to control but Keegan is working from the bottom.

Keegan is looking to reverse the position.
Keegan trying to remain calm as Haba controls from the top position.
Keegan tries to get back to half guard but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Haba taking a break here but Keegan is having none of it and regains half guard.
Keegan is looking for a sweep. Haba is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Haba wants to free his trapped foot but Keegan is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Haba is trying to control the action in half guard but Keegan is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Haba gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Keegan wants to control from the top but Haba keeps moving.
Keegan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Haba is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Keegan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Haba has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Keegan has managed to get both his arms back between Haba's legs - danger averted.

Haba escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Keegan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Haba has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Keegan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Keegan darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Haba makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Haba.
Keegan won't allow Haba to sweep him here.

Haba is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Keegan is just riding it out for now. Haba eventually gives up the hold.
Keegan is refusing to be controlled, as Haba sits in half guard.

Haba is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Keegan is defending against the submission attempts here by Haba.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Haba tries for a takedown but Keegan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Keegan closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Haba quickly recovers to half guard.

Haba might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Keegan lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Keegan slips a nice elbow through Haba's hands, connecting with Haba's forehead.
Haba tries to roll over but Keegan keeps him under control.

Mac Keegan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Haba shoots in looking for a takedown but Keegan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Haba's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

My spies in JAG Battle Gym inform me that Keegan has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Haba has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Keegan is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Haba.

Haba is looking for a sweep. Keegan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Haba has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Keegan escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Keegan!

Keegan looks up at the clock and then as Haba takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Keegan smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Keegan lands a nice forearm strike.
Haba sneaks back into half guard.
Keegan is trying to control. Haba wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Keegan thows a huge punch but Haba dodges it nicely.
Keegan is just content to waste time from the top position. Haba takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Keegan slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Haba is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Mac Keegan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Keegan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
