Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Danny Summers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Aguirre! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown by Aguirre or perhaps it was just good defense by Summers which made him look bad. Summers loads up on a big right hand but Aguirre slips the punch. Aguirre closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Summers to the mat! Summers manages to get full guard. Aguirre advances to half guard. Summers tries to get to full guard but Aguirre has control of the leg. Aguirre sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Summers defending well though. Summers wants to get back to full guard. Summers on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Summers tries to get out of the position. Summers avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Aguirre. Summers is trying to stand up here but Aguirre is controlling him well. Aguirre is trying to control. Summers wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Summers drops Aguirre with a beautiful combination! Aguirre stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Summers is looking for the KO!
Aguirre is rocked!
It looks like Josh Aguirre has been cut. Aguirre is looking to slow Summers down with leg kicks. Aguirre tries to clinch but Summers is having none of it. Summers with a body punch. A glancing blow. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Summers throws the left hand but Aguirre avoids the punch easily. Aguirre misses with a two punch combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Summers. Aguirre looks gassed! Aguirre is looking to reverse the position. Aguirre prevents Summers from improving position. Summers landing a few strikes. Summers is staying tight to Aguirre's torso, preventing him from escaping. Aguirre is trying to get back to half guard. Aguirre manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Summers working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Summers lands a nice short elbow. Summers takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Aguirre has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Aguirre is staying active underneath Summers, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Summers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Aguirre on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Summers working over Aguirre with some ground and pound. Aguirre looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Summers controlling the action here. Aguirre wants to control but Summers is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Aguirre is trying to stand back up but Summers is controlling him

That's three minutes gone in the round. Summers is nestled in close to Aguirre, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Nice strikes from Summers there. Summers landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Aguirre tries to roll over but Summers keeps him under control. Summers is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Summers stands up from half guard. Summers looks to land a combination but Aguirre avoids it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Aguirre tries to clinch up. Summers goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Aguirre bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Aguirre misses with a takedown letting Summers counter with a right hand. Aguirre takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Aguirre looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Aguirre takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. A thudding body kick lands there by Aguirre!
Aguirre darts in and clinches Summers up against the cage. Aguirre gets underhooks to prevent Summers's takedown attempt.
Summers throws a punch but it's blocked by Aguirre. Summers wants a takedown.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Aguirre pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Aguirre closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Summers tries for a takedown but Aguirre manages to get underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Summers. That's going to take a lot out of him. Summers tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Aguirre smiles and moves away.

Danny Summers dominated that round. The cut man is working on Josh Aguirre's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Summers throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Summers scores with a jab to the jaw. Summers ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Summers scores with a one two! Aguirre had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Aguirre throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Summers's waist but Summers gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Aguirre off to one side. Aguirre dodges the punch combination from Summers.
Summers misses with a hook. Aguirre ducked under it nicely. Aguirre throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Summers tries to bum rush Aguirre with a series of wild strikes but Aguirre uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Summers showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Aguirre.
Summers uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Aguirre has time to react. Aguirre looks to land a body kick but Summers moved away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aguirre clinches. Summers is trying to drag Aguirre to the mat but Aguirre just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Summers is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Aguirre tightens his grip and picks Summers up, before dumping him to the ground. Summers manages to land in guard. Aguirre missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Aguirre is on the wrong end of a couple of strikes there. Aguirre drops back, looking for a kneebar! Summers looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Summers looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Summers! Summers working the ground and pound. Aguirre is pushing Summers's head away, looking to escape. Summers manages to hold on to the position though. Summers wants to control but Aguirre is keeping him busy. Aguirre wants to control but Summers postures up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. A punch lands to the side of Aguirre 's head but he takes it in his stride. Summers missing with a left hand there. Aguirre was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Aguirre with a lazy takedown attempt and Summers counters with a series of strikes. Aguirre will be more careful next time no doubt. Jab, jab by Summers - just one landing. Danny Summers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Summers misses with a few strikes there.
Summers cracks Aguirre with a right hand to the side of the head. Aguirre shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Danny Summers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Josh Aguirre.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Summers throws a body punch but Aguirre moves out of range. Summers shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Aguirre counters with a nice uppercut. Summers connects with a looping right hand.

Summers throws a combination that misses and Aguirre holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Aguirre jumps guard.
Summers trying to control but Aguirre is working from the bottom. Summers stands up over Aguirre, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Summers trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Aguirre is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Summers drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Aguirre dives on top into guard. Aguirre wants to stand but Summers has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Aguirre decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Summers scores with a jab to the head.
Aguirre tries to clinch up but Summers circles away and keeps his distance. Aguirre looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Aguirre uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Summers. Summers fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Aguirre manages to avoid it. Aguirre shoots in and bounces Summers off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Summers looking to hit a scissor sweep but Aguirre is one step ahead there. Summers pushes Aguirre off and gets back to his feet.

Summers slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Aguirre is pushing Summers's head away, looking to escape. Summers manages to hold on to the position though. Summers is putting a hurting on Aguirre here, landing some big shots from side control. Summers wants to control but Aguirre is keeping him busy. Aguirre is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Summers asserts his dominance and retains side control. Summers trying to control the position but Aguirre is working away. Danny Summers overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aguirre wants to get back to his feet. Summers works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Summers thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Aguirre takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Summers is looking to take a break and control but Aguirre is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Aguirre thuds his shin into the meat of Summers's side. Aguirre takes a body punch but keeps moving. Aguirre throws a left and a right that both miss
and Summers counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Summers moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Aguirre with a poor takedown and Summers counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Aguirre throws a series of punches but Summers avoids them all with ease. Aguirre takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Summers throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Aguirre displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Summers throws out the jab. Aguirre darts in and clinches Summers up against the cage. Summers is trying to drag Aguirre to the mat but Aguirre just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Summers changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Aguirre fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Aguirre lands a head kick. Summers smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Aguirre walks into a jab. Summers lands a nice shot that snaps Aguirre's head back.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Aguirre is pressed up against the cage. Summers has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Aguirre down to the mat. Aguirre avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Summers. That's going to take a lot out of him. Aguirre misses with a body shot.
Aguirre misses with a takedown attempt and Summers counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Aguirre thinking. Summers throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Aguirre stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. A jab from Summers does it's job there. Aguirre keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Aguirre throws a right hand that Summers ducks under and follows up with a left that Summers also avoids with ease. Summers with a poor takedown and Aguirre makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Summers really felt that one! Aguirre drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Summers is looking for a sweep. Summers throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Summers takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Summers is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Aguirre's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Aguirre scoring with strikes to the body and head. Summers tries to roll over but Aguirre keeps him under control. Aguirre tries to stand and escape but Summers is controlling the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Summers misses with a double jab
and Aguirre decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Summers's guard. Aguirre stands up over Summers, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Aguirre gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Aguirre shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Summers but Summers pushes him off and we're back to square one. Summers looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
And that's the end of the fight! Josh Aguirre comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Aguirre has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
