Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Max Chaos (ranked 131 p4p, 659 weight class) and Chad Smith (ranked 22 p4p, 97 weight class). Chaos's entrance music is Cannibal Corpse - Hammer Smashed Face. A fine choice. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 28 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Max Chaos! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 22 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chad Smith! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Phil Schofield and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith tries to clinch up. Max Chaos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Chaos avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Smith is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Chaos with a body shot. Smith throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Chaos scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. The fighters circling - Chaos throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Chaos cracks Smith with an open hand slap. A looping hook to the body misses from Smith. Chaos does a little dance to reset his feet. Smith tries to clinch up. Smith throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Chaos has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Smith uses from the top position. Chaos is looking for a triangle but Smith pushes his legs off easily.

Chaos manages to work his way to half guard, despite Smith's best efforts. Chaos is trying to get back to full guard. Chaos looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Chaos manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Smith kicks Chaos off and gets back to his feet. Chaos scores with a body shot.
Smith thuds his right hand into Chaos's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Chaos lands with an uppercut that bounces Smith off the cage and back into range. Smith tries to clinch but Chaos moves out of range. Smith's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Chaos connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Smith scrambles back to his feet. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Smith moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Chaos scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Smith bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Smith swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Smith stuffs the takedown. Chaos looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. A looping hook to the body misses from Chaos. Smith does a little dance to reset his feet. Smith moves out of range of the strikes. Smith wants to counter the offense by Chaos and move into the clinch position.

Smith clinches. Smith lands a shoulder strike. Chaos manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Smith scores with a nice hook to the head. Smith manages to break the clinch.
Smith tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Chaos appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Chaos ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Smith closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Chaos breaks the clinch.
The crowd cheers as Chaos lands an impressive looking overhand right. Smith doesn't seem phased though. Smith darts in and clinches Chaos up against the cage. A bit of stalling here from Chaos.

Chaos throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Chaos's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Smith takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Chaos uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Smith has time to react. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Max Chaos will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Smith fails in his attempt to clinch. Chaos misses the shot to the body. Smith jabs Chaos to the body, keeping him at a distance. Smith throws a nice looking combination but Chaos bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Chaos scores with a jab. The fighters circle momentarily. Smith darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Chaos lands a jab to the head.
Smith slips under a jab. Chaos jabs at Smith's body. Smith looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Smith scores with a shot to the body.
Smith on the wrong end of a nice hook. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Smith has Chaos up against the cage in a clinch.
Chaos lands a shot to the body. Smith digs a right hand into Chaos's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Chaos's gas tank. Chaos breaks from the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Chaos misses with a wild body shot. Chaos cracks Smith with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Smith moves into the clinch successfully.
Smith tries to work over Chaos's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Chaos tries a body shot but Smith blocks it.
Smith gets through Chaos's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Smith is pressed up against the cage. Chaos has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Smith down to the mat. Smith avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Smith keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Chaos throws a series of punches but Smith avoids them all with ease. Chaos is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Smith tries to clinch up. Chaos throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Chaos ducks right into an uppercut from Smith. Smith moves into the clinch. Chaos throws a head punch that misses. Smith works on Chaos's body with a couple of short punches. Chaos doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Chaos lands a right hand that snaps the head of Smith backwards. Chaos blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Chaos just leaning against Smith, taking a breather. Chaos breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Chaos avoids the body shot from Smith.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Smith tries to clinch but Chaos is having none of it. Chaos slips a straight right by Smith. Smith misses with an uppercut. Chaos saw that one coming. Chaos attempts a counter takedown but Smith avoids it well and moves away. Chaos cracks Smith with an open hand slap. Smith misses with a looping right. A momentary lapse in concentration from Smith enables Chaos to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Smith manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Chaos is standing up over Smith. Smith looks to escape but Chaos dives into side control.
Chaos creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Chaos is looking to take a break and control but Smith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Smith on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith regains half guard, as Chaos was trying to land strikes. Chaos tries to pass to full mount but Smith defends it. Chaos seems to be working for a kimura but Smith defends the submission attempt. Chaos wants to control but Smith is keeping him busy. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Chaos lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Chaos trying to control the action but Smith is working from the bottom. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Max Chaos will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Smith cracks Chaos with a right hand to the side of the head. Smith takes a swing at Chaos's ribcage but misses. Smith looks to throw the jab but Chaos is out of range. Smith tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Chaos was well out of range. Poor timing from Smith. Chaos lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Smith fails in his attempt to clinch. Smith tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Chaos manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Smith takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Smith ducks right into an uppercut from Chaos. Smith is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Smith is looking to take this fight into the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Smith looks to score with a jab to the body but Chaos is just out of range. Smith will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's one minute gone in the round. Chaos shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Smith's guard. Chaos looking to pass the guard. Chaos postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Smith has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Chaos can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Chaos working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Chaos wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving. Chaos is really struggling to control Smith but he's trying to hold on to the position. Max Chaos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Chaos dives into side control.

Smith is looking to reverse the position. Chaos tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Smith is trying to escape the position but Chaos is controlling the position. Chaos thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. An elbow from Chaos crashes against the mat.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Chaos scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Smith to see if he's OK. Chaos working the body and head with strikes. An elbow from Chaos crashes against the mat.
Chaos misses with the ground and pound. Chaos working away. The strikes coming from Chaos are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Chaos trying to control the position but Smith is working away. Chaos tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Chaos has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chaos misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Max Chaos clearly takes that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Chaos misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Smith wants to counter the offense by Chaos and move into the clinch position. Chaos changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smith looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Smith wants to control but Chaos postures up. Chaos tries to advance position but instead Smith slips a leg back in to half guard. Smith is concentrating on defense, preventing Chaos from advancing position. Smith is in trouble now - Chaos has advanced to mount! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith tries to buck Chaos off but he can't manage it. Chaos with good strikes from the mount here!

Smith might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Chaos haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
