PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tyree Ball (ranked 4479 p4p, 4474 weight class) and Simon Terrier (ranked 0 p4p, 372 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tyree Ball!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Simon Terrier!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ball.
Ball shoots for a takedown but Terrier saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Ball gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Ball keeps control of Terrier as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Terrier wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Ball manages to break the clinch.
Ball shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Terrier as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyree Ball. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Terrier throws a sloppy head kick

and Ball counters by clinching up.
Terrier jumps guard but Ball turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Ball manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ball rushes Terrier and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Terrier tries to circle away but Ball has him pinned against the cage.
Ball misses with a body punch.
Terrier can't break the clinch.

Ball manages to pull guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Terrier throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ball works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Terrier wants to stand and escape but instead Ball has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Ball wants to pass the guard but Terrier is keeping the position.
Ball passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Terrier is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Ball controls the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ball decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Ball has closed the distance and engaged Terrier in a clinch.
Terrier has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Terrier wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ball lands a nice uppercut.
Terrier is trying to push Ball away but Ball has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Terrier wants to break the clinch but can't.
Ball is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Terrier gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Terrier looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Ball just leaning against Terrier, taking a breather.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Terrier can't break the clinch.
Ball drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Ball breaks from the clinch.
Terrier bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Terrier moves in looking to clinch but Ball pushes him off.
Ball keeps the fight on the outside.
Ball shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Terrier sprawls well. Terrier wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ball gets slowly back to his feet.
Terrier is looking for the big counter here.

Ball rushes Terrier and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Ball escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ball shoots for a takedown but Terrier saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Terrier throws a body shot but no joy.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Terrier fails with an attempt to clinch.
Terrier throws a right and a left that Ball avoids nicely.
Ball throws a big counter combination but Terrier scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Terrier wants to clinch but Ball slips to the side
and Ball counters with a three punch combo that has Terrier backing up. Terrier nods at Ball to acknowledge the strikes.
Simon Terrier is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Terrier tries to close the distance and clinch but Ball swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tyree Ball dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Ball clinches up with Terrier and pushes him back against the cage.
Ball just leaning against Terrier, taking a breather.
A short right from Terrier.
Terrier prevents a takedown attempt there.

Ball manages to pull guard.
Terrier looking to pass the guard.
Terrier trying to control but Ball is working from the bottom.
Ball lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ball slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Terrier is looking to stand up but Ball isn't so interested in that idea.
Ball throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Terrier can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ball controls the pace.
Ball works a leg free and moves into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ball is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Terrier doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ball.
Ball content to control rather than advance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Terrier has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Ball is on him like a limpet, forcing Terrier back against the cage.
Ball has Terrier pressed against the cage, preventing Terrier from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Terrier breaks the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Terrier is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ball bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Ball rushes Terrier and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Ball jumps guard and drags Terrier to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Ball working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Terrier doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Ball is tightening it up a little... Terrier has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Terrier reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Terrier taps out! Nice BJJ there by Ball!
