The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammer connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Hammer has taken the fight to the clinch.

Soares drags the fight down to the ground.
Hammer is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Hammer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hammer with a flurry of punches that miss.

Soares working for a triangle but Hammer defends it easily.
Hammer trying to control but Soares is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hammer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Hammer stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Soares has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Hammer manages to get his head free but now Soares has transitioned to an armbar! Hammer grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Soares! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
