This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Rico HC! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Cj Lee! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Emerson Jorge and Luis Engracia.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? HC tries to keep at a distance but Lee has taken the fight into the clinch. HC jumps guard.
Lee trying to control the position from guard on top but HC is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lee stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. HC swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lee wants to control from the top but HC keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. HC has Lee pulled in close to control his posture. HC lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: HC (2) vs (0) Lee Lee trying to keep a closed guard but HC is proving a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. HC stands and throws Lee's legs to the side, diving into side control. Score +3 for passing guard: HC (5) vs (0) Lee Lee has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Lee is not content to let HC control the position. Lee is trying to control HC's posture but HC avoids it. HC tries for a kimura but Lee is defending well. HC working away. HC tries for a kimura but Lee is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lee manages to work his way to half guard, despite HC's best efforts.
That's two minutes gone in the round. HC is looking for a kimura but Lee is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for HC to get the leverage. Lee moves into full guard.
HC is fighting to break Lee's control of his arms but Lee is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. HC tries to free his leg and advance position but Lee is retaining full guard. Lee is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: HC (5) vs (2) Lee Lee controlling the action here. Lee is keen to just control but HC is a slippery customer.
That's three minutes gone in the round. HC tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Lee has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Score +3 for passing guard: HC (5) vs (5) Lee Lee trying to control but he's not successful this time. Lee is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. HC is in real trouble.
Score +3 for taking back: HC (5) vs (8) Lee Lee just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Lee is not going to allow HC to sit and survive in this position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Lee's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
