Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Turk Donavan (ranked 4277 p4p, 5622 weight class) and Anthony Ruiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Turk Donavan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anthony Ruiz!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Kenichi Hosakawa and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruiz tries to clinch there but Donavan circles away.
Donavan attempts a counter takedown but Ruiz avoids it well and moves away.
Ruiz lands a nice leg kick that just misses Donavan's sensitive parts.

Donavan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Donavan not doing much here.
Ruiz is looking to control Donavan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ruiz avoid being mounted?
Donavan not landing any meaningful shots this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ruiz is looking for a sweep. Donavan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Donavan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ruiz on the ground.
Donavan trying to control the pace.
Donavan wants to pass to mount but Ruiz is defending the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Donavan is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Donavan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Donavan takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Anthony Ruiz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ruiz throws a front kick that sends Donavan stumbling back into the cage.
Ruiz throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Donavan sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Ruiz fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Donavan has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Donavan has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ruiz finds it's way round the side to connect with Donavan's head.

Donavan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ruiz to the mat! Ruiz manages to get full guard.
Donavan wants to stand but Ruiz is controlling his posture from full guard.
Donavan won't allow Ruiz to get back to his feet.
Donavan trying to control the position from guard on top but Ruiz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ruiz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Donavan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Ruiz darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Ruiz misses with a head kick.
Donavan tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Ruiz manages to circle out of the way.
Donavan misses with a low kick.
Ruiz goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

It looks like Turk Donavan has been cut.

Donavan shoots in and bounces Ruiz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Donavan postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ruiz is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Donavan, into his guard.


That's four minutes gone in the round.

Ruiz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ruiz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Donavan looking for a sweep. Not yet Donavan, not yet.

Donavan throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Ruiz wants to pass the guard but Donavan is keeping the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ruiz trying to control the position from guard on top but Donavan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Anthony Ruiz dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Turk Donavan's cut.
That's time! Donavan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Ruiz jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Donavan gets a takedown into half guard.
Ruiz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Donavan wants to stand up. He gets to his feet but Ruiz has locked on to a leg, he rolls the pair back to the ground and cranks on Donavan's ankle. The pair roll once more but Ruiz really cranks it and Donavan is forced to tap! Great counter grappling from Ruiz!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Ankle Lock). Anthony Ruiz!
