The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Emerson Jorge.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sabio tries to score with a low kick but Butters moves his leg out of the way.
Butters stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Sabio.
Butters closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sabio circles away.

Butters drives through with a takedown into guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Butters postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sabio is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Butters, into his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sabio is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Butters is surviving well by controlling Sabio's body position as best he can.

Sabio is going olschool here, as he tries to force Butters to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Butters shrugs it off.

Sabio wants to finish this one by submission but Butters is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Sabio.

Sabio gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Sabio throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sabio swings for the body but Butters moves out of range.

A nice inside leg kick there by Sabio. That's going to slow Butters down.
Butters misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Horrible takedown by Butters or perhaps it was just good defense by Sabio which made him look bad.
Ariel Sabio has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stan Butters.
Butters closes the distance and clinches up with Sabio, looking for a takedown. Butters pushes Sabio against the cage but Sabio circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Sabio lands a head kick that stumbles Butters and the fighters go to the mat.

Butters is rocked!

It looks like Stan Butters has been cut.

Sabio drops back looking for a leg! Butters is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Butters manages to kick Sabio off! Sabio jumps back into Butters's guard.
Butters is still in real trouble! Can Sabio finish him?

Sabio is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Sabio passes Butters's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Butters seems to have recovered his senses.

Sabio is keen to just control but Butters is a slippery customer.

Sabio lands with a big left! Butters is wobbled badly! Sabio comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Butters to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
