PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mack Jackson (ranked 3086 p4p, 17893 weight class) and Cajetan Shashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mack Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cajetan Shashi!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shashi pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Jackson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Shashi controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've been hearing good reports from Jackson's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Shashi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jackson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shashi has managed to get both his arms back between Jackson's legs - danger averted.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Shashi throws a series of punches but Jackson moves out of range.

Shashi throws a quick inside leg kick.

Shashi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Shashi thows a huge punch but Jackson dodges it nicely.
Shashi is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jackson is looking to improve his position.
Shashi stalling away here and it's allowed Jackson to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Shashi would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jackson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Shashi tries to stand but Jackson is controlling from the bottom.
Jackson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jackson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jackson is trying to work for a kimura but Shashi is defending well.
Shashi is in trouble now - Jackson has advanced to mount!
Shashi tries to reverse the position but Jackson maintains control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Shashi holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Jackson tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Shashi bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Cajetan Shashi dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Jackson scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Mack Jackson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Shashi walks into a jab.
Shashi's corner calls for a 1-2. Shashi obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Shashi moves into range and clinches up with Jackson.

Shashi turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Shashi manages to end up in side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jackson is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Shashi off and has taken his back!

Shashi manages to reverse the position and now he's in Jackson's guard. Nice work there by Shashi.

Cajetan Shashi has got the better of the ground game so far.

Shashi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jackson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Shashi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Shashi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jackson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Shashi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jackson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jackson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mack Jackson will probably get the nod.

Shashi looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Jackson!

Shashi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Shashi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Shashi goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Jackson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Shashi's guard! Nice work there by Jackson!

Jackson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jackson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jackson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Shashi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jackson wants to control from the top but Shashi keeps moving.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Cajetan Shashi.
Well Shashi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
