PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leonardo Campidoglio (ranked 3044 p4p, 5303 weight class) and Lucifer Morningstar (ranked 378 p4p, 599 weight class). Morningstar has chosen Highway to hell as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leonardo Campidoglio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lucifer Morningstar!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Campidoglio feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Morningstar is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Campidoglio dives into side control.

Campidoglio gets to mount! Morningstar was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Morningstar is squirming around, avoiding Campidoglio's attempts to control the action.
Campidoglio content just to control the position here.
Morningstar can't escape the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Morningstar is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Campidoglio takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Morningstar tries to reverse the position but Campidoglio maintains control.
Campidoglio can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Morningstar is looking to escape.

Campidoglio is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Morningstar has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Morningstar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Campidoglio. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Campidoglio controlling the pace for now.
Campidoglio sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Campidoglio with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Morningstar tries to lock up and control but Campidoglio gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Morningstar wants to try and get back to his feet.

Campidoglio can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Morningstar is looking to escape.

Poor strikes thrown by Campidoglio there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Morningstar wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Campidoglio has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Morningstar is trying to break free.

That's time! Back to the action!

Morningstar lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Lucifer Morningstar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Campidoglio shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Morningstar sprawls well. Morningstar wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Campidoglio gets slowly back to his feet.
Morningstar throws a sloppy head kick and Campidoglio moves out of range easily.
Morningstar feints a jab promting Campidoglio to slip. Morningstar then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Campidoglio slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Campidoglio looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Morningstar slaps away a takedown attempt from Campidoglio, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Campidoglio moves forwards but Morningstar connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Morningstar changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Campidoglio tries to avoid it but Morningstar manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Campidoglio to the ground. Campidoglio escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Morningstar lands a jab to the nose.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Morningstar throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Campidoglio stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Morningstar throws a right and a left that Campidoglio avoids nicely.
A chopping leg kick lands by Morningstar.

Morningstar scores with a jab. Campidoglio acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Morningstar throws a head kick that misses.
Morningstar scores with a decent looking hook.
Campidoglio fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Morningstar cracks Campidoglio with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Nice jab there from Morningstar.
Morningstar bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Campidoglio's head.

Campidoglio is rocked!
The fight stays on the outside here - Campidoglio looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Morningstar fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Campidoglio has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Morningstar lands a big head kick that sends Campidoglio tumbling to the mat! Morningstar takes a step backwards and waves Campidoglio back to his feet - he wants the finish!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Morningstar scores with a hook to the body. Campidoglio takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Campidoglio shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Morningstar as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leonardo Campidoglio. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Morningstar lands a brutal head kick. Campidoglio looks out on his feet and Morningstar throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick and Punches). Lucifer Morningstar!
Lucifer Morningstar decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
