This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 12 wins and 9 losses; Eddie Gelfen! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 24 wins and 22 losses; David Allan Coe!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Paulsen Ambrosius.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Gelfen has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Coe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gelfen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Coe has managed to get both his arms back between Gelfen's legs - danger averted.

Gelfen sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Coe is taking a breather. Gelfen says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

My spies in Far-Q Fight Club inform me that Coe has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Coe can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gelfen is looking to escape.

Coe might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Gelfen haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Coe is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Coe is pressing down on Gelfen's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gelfen is holding on for now.

Coe is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gelfen defends it well.

Gelfen is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Coe's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Coe's back!

You can see the frustration on Coe's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Gelfen tries to get the hooks in deep but Coe pushed the leg off.

Gelfen is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Gelfen doesn't have the hooks in and Coe manages to turn into his guard.

Gelfen is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Coe frees his head nicely. Oh but Gelfen has switched to an armbar! Coe is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

After the fight, Eddie Gelfen was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
