Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Carter (ranked 819 p4p, 1344 weight class) and Roman Ship (ranked 22 p4p, 41 weight class). Roman Ship has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Carter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Roman Ship! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ship shoots in for a takedown but Carter shows good takedown defense. Carter is looking to counter punch. Carter throws a hook but Ship avoids it easily. Carter has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Tran MMA Gym in the buildup to the fight. Nice straight punches there by Carter. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Carter. Carter throws a hook to the side of Ship's head but Ship sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Ship with the counter takedown but Carter avoids it easily. Carter swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Carter's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Ship connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Carter scrambles back to his feet. Ship tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Carter manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Carter gets tackled into the cage by Ship. Ship maintains the clinch. Ship tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ship jumps guard but Carter turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Jason Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roman Ship. Carter misses with a body punch.

Ship is trying to pull guard but Carter turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Ship tries to pull guard but Carter holds him up against the cage and eventually Ship drops back down to his feet.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Carter. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ship tries to pull guard but Carter forces him back to his feet, against the cage. We've been informed that Ship has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. A head punch blocked on the inside by Ship. Carter lands with a light punch inside. Carter misses with a hook to the ribs.
A shot in the inside from Carter. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Carter working some nice short punches in the clinch. Carter lands with a light punch inside. Carter misses with a short punch on the inside.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Carter throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Ship tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Carter just stands there and leans against the cage. Ship tries to pull guard but Carter forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Ship jumps guard but Carter turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Ship fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Carter lands a right hand that snaps the head of Ship backwards. Carter struggles to land a body shot inside as Ship controls his hands.
Ship is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Carter is defending well for now. Carter throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Ship looks winded! Carter misses with a body punch.

Carter breaks from the clinch.
Ship tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Carter lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Carter jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
It looks like Roman Ship has been cut. Jason Carter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Carter scores with the left hand. Ship knows he should have avoided that one. Carter moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ship tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Carter manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Carter throws a shot from downtown. Ship moves away and avoids it. Carter gets in close and instigates a clinch. Ship tries to pull guard but Carter won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carter struggles to land a body shot inside as Ship controls his hands.
Carter lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Ship jumps guard.
Carter not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Carter's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ship is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Carter frees his head nicely. Oh but Ship has switched to an armbar! Carter is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
