Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Carter (ranked 1607 p4p, 2919 weight class) and Owen McShane (ranked 211 p4p, 358 weight class). The key to victory for James Carter has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McShane throws an off balance right hand
and Carter counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Carter throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Carter lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Carter stuns McShane with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
McShane takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
McShane throws out a loose jab but Carter uses good head movement to avoid it.
Carter swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
McShane is trying hard to land a takedown here. Carter sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Carter uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McShane.
McShane takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Carter ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McShane moves away.
McShane shoots in looking for a takedown but Carter manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McShane's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

McShane wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carter keeps working.

Carter has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
McShane wants to pass to mount but Carter is defending the position.
Carter is in trouble now - McShane has advanced to mount!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
