The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutherford lands a nice shot to the body.
Rutherford takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Rutherford throws a body punch but Sterling James moves out of range.
Sterling James seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Rutherford is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sterling James.
Rutherford connects with a right hand. Sterling James shakes it off.
Sterling James walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Rutherford gets caught flat footed, as Sterling James shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Rutherford is working an open guard so Sterling James takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Sterling James uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rutherford.

Sterling James is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Rutherford is trying to escape and Sterling James transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Rutherford is forced to tap! Nice work there by Sterling James! Very nice indeed!
