Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Graham Mantle (ranked 915 p4p, 1654 weight class) and Ameri Can (ranked 100 p4p, 181 weight class). Can has chosen For Heavy Metal we will die! as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Graham Mantle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ameri Can!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mantle throws a shot to the body.
Can looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Can walks into a jab.
Mantle lands a really nice looking cross but Can seems unphased.
Can throws an overhand right that lands on Mantle's shoulder, as Mantle tries to avoid the shot.
Mantle takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Can takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Mantle throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Can on the side of the head.
Mantle looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Can takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Mantle displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Can throws out the jab.
Can scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Can connects with the punch.
Can misses with a body shot
and Mantle cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A jab from Can does it's job there.
Can lands a jab to Mantle's midsection.
A chopping leg kick lands by Can.

Mantle scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Can kicks Mantle off and gets back to his feet.
Mantle connects with a body shot that sends Can's belly button to the back.
Can misses the jab.
Mantle is looking to counter punch.
Nice shot lands for Mantle.
A big left from Can misses.
Can's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mantle connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Can scrambles back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Can throws a half hearted mid kick.
Mantle checks a low kick from Can.
A nice inside leg kick there by Can. That's going to slow Mantle down.
Ameri Can is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mantle avoids the body shot from Can.
Can moves into range and connects with a jab.

Mantle throws out a powerful jab.
Can throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Mantle cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Can fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mantle manages to avoid it.
Mantle feinted with a counter takedown.
Can misses with the body kick
and Mantle counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Can thinking.

Mantle decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Mantle lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Mantle landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Can on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Mantle takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Mantle thows a huge punch but Can dodges it nicely.
Mantle working Can over with strikes.
Can tries to roll over but Mantle keeps him under control.
Mantle is taking a breather. Can says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mantle looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Mantle throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Can to regain full guard.
Mantle slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Can is looking to stand up but Mantle isn't so interested in that idea.
Mantle sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Can is trying to keep Mantle in close.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mantle working some strikes from top position.
Can being controlled here, momentarily.
Mantle is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Mantle has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Can is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mantle trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Mantle engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Mantle counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Can misses with an uppercut. Mantle saw that one coming.
Mantle feinted with a counter takedown.
Can digs a good body shot into Mantle's ribs.
Can throws a sloppy head kick
and Mantle counters with a nice body shot.
Can's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mantle connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Can scrambles back to his feet.
Mantle works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Mantle wants to clinch up but Can keeps it at a distance.
Mantle swings for the body but Can moves out of range.
A shot to the liver by Can. Beautiful body shot.
Can cracks Mantle with a good jab.
Jab, jab by Mantle - just one landing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mantle misses with a hook. Can ducked under it nicely.
Mantle shoots in but Can avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mantle tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Can paws at him with a jab and circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Can lands a leg kick that knocks Mantle off balance momentarily.
Mantle scores with a shot to the body.
A shot to the body from Can misses
and Mantle counters with a stiff right hand.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Can enables Mantle to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Can manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Mantle scoring with some ground and pound.
Mantle looking to sit in guard and control but Can gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Mantle pulls Can in close to prevent any damage.
Can controls from within his opponent's guard.

Can trying to control but Mantle is working from the bottom.
Can preventing the sweep.
Mantle is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mantle looking to hit a scissor sweep but Can is one step ahead there.
Mantle bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Can's guard.

Mantle throws a strike but Can rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Can wants to control from the top but Mantle keeps moving.
Mantle wants to sweep here but Can controlling him for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Can is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Can slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mantle is not content to let Can control the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Graham Mantle will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Can throws a hook but Mantle avoids it easily.
Mantle half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Can is looking to land body kicks.
Mantle doesn't manage to clinch there - Can circles away.
Can throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Mantle misses with an uppercut. Can saw that one coming.
Mantle misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Can.
Mantle misses the shot to the body.
Graham Mantle is winning the standup battle so far.
Can listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Mantle swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Can counters with a left to the body.
Mantle lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Can pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mantle throws a body punch but Can moves out of range.
Mantle with a hook.
A slow jab from Can misses its intended target.

Can on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Mantle shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Can counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Can tries a low kick but Mantle avoids it.
Can walks into a left hand.
Mantle jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Can let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Can swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Mantle moves out of range of the strikes.
A head kick misses from Can.
It looked like Mantle was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Can.
Some wild striking there from Mantle.
Can appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Can misses with a looping right.
Mantle uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Can.
Can throws a right and a left that Mantle avoids nicely.
Graham Mantle is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Can tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mantle was well out of range. Poor timing from Can.
Mantle lands with a nice body punch.
Can takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mantle uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Can.
Can takes one to the side of the head.
Mantle throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mantle misses the shot to the body.
Mantle cracks Can with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Can fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mantle looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Can throws a leg kick that is checked
and Mantle counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Mantle connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Can momentarily.
A telegraphed right hand from Can misses the target.
A slow jab from Can misses its intended target.
Ameri Can has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Mantle scores with a sloppy right hand. Can should have avoided that one.
Can throws an off balance right hand
and Mantle counters with a stiff right hand.
Mantle goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Can fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Mantle on the side of the head.
Can pivots, looking for a leg kick but Mantle is out of range and Can settles back down.
Can swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Mantle pushes Can up against the cage in a clinch.
Can misses with a punch on the inside.
A head punch on the inside from Can fails to land.
Can prevents the takedown attempt.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Can.
Mantle controlling the action here for a moment.
Mantle is trying to maintain a safe position but Can gets an underhook and turns Mantle into the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Can goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Mantle fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Can lands a body shot in the clinch.
Can scores with an uppercut up the middle.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Can struggles to land a body shot inside as Mantle controls his hands.
Can leaning against his opponent.
Can is looking to break free of the clinch but Mantle has double underhooks.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Mantle.
Can misses with an elbow strike.
A nice right hand lands inside from Mantle.
Mantle lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Can misses with a punch on the inside.
Mantle blocks an uppercut.
Can lands an elbow inside.
Mantle dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Can goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

And that's the end of the fight!
Graham Mantle showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Mantle has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
