Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ian Beale! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mathew Sayce! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Emerson Jorge and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sayce stuffs the takedown. Sayce decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Beale is trying to maintain the position but Sayce is very close to passing his half guard. Beale moves into full guard.
Sayce trying to control the position from guard on top but Beale is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Beale will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Beale throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Beale looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Sayce pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Beale is keeping the position for now. Beale had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Sayce is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Beale Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Sayce's back instead. Sayce rolls, trying to escape but Beale keeps control of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sayce covering up well under a barage of strikes. Sayce trying to control the action but Beale just sinks the hooks in. Sayce is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Beale is trying to stick to Sayce's back but Sayce is turning into Beale. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Beale's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Sayce. Sayce has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Beale to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Sayce is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Beale pulls down on the head and he's put Sayce to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Ian Beale!
