PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Marty Moon (ranked 3424 p4p, 3997 weight class) and Stevie Fedorov (ranked 329 p4p, 360 weight class). Stevie Fedorov struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 147.8lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Marty Moon has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marty Moon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stevie Fedorov!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Francis DeMontford and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Moon has closed the distance and engaged Fedorov in a clinch.

Fedorov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Moon is trying to trip Fedorov. He has hold of a leg but Fedorov is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Moon persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Moon engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Moon has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fedorov can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Moon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fedorov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Moon has managed to get both his arms back between Fedorov's legs - danger averted.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Moon gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Moon is standing up over Fedorov. Fedorov looks to escape but Moon dives into side control.

The referee asks Moon politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Moon prefers to stall for the moment though.

Moon is trying to get an arm triangle but Fedorov is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fedorov is trying to control Moon's posture but Moon avoids it.
You can see the frustration on Fedorov's face as Moon controls the position.
Fedorov is trying to get back to his feet.
Moon is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Fedorov's shoulder. That is not cool.
We've been hearing that Moon has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Fedorov gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Moon is landing with some decent strikes but Fedorov is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Fedorov is bucking up trying to escape but Moon cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Fedorov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Moon sprawls well. Moon wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fedorov gets slowly back to his feet.

Moon has hold of one of Fedorov's legs. Fedorov is fighting the takedown attempt but Moon gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Moon is taking a breather. Fedorov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Moon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Moon seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Fedorov for as long as he can get away with.

Moon looking to break Fedorov's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Fedorov remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Moon will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Marty Moon decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
