PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ronnie Bass (ranked 2238 p4p, 662 weight class) and Keith Rodgers (ranked 295 p4p, 86 weight class). Bass comes to the cage accompanied by Down With The Sickness. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 12 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Keith Rodgers !
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Colin Fotheringham and Richard Clark.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rodgers gets the takedown into side control.
Sloppy strikes there by Rodgers .
The strikes coming from Rodgers are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rodgers remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Rodgers lands a few punches from side control.
Rodgers with the ground and pound but Bass regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Rodgers throwing shots but Bass is blocking nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bass is not content to let Rodgers control the position.
Rodgers might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Bass haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Rodgers throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Rodgers thows a huge punch but Bass dodges it nicely.
Bass is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Rodgers thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bass's head.
Rodgers with the ground and pound but Bass uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Rodgers connects with a couple of short punches.
Rodgers throws a big right hand that misses.
Bass keeping moving, preventing Rodgers from controlling successfully.
Rodgers distracts Bass with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Rodgers scoring with some ground and pound.
Bass has momentary wrist control but Rodgers slips an elbow through the middle.
Rodgers postures up in Bass's guard and throws a big left but Bass blocks it.
Rodgers throws an elbow that misses. Bass uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rodgers 's guard. Nice move by Bass!

Bass avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Rodgers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bass doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bass manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rodgers working for a triangle but Bass defends it easily.
Bass has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rodgers is proving hard to escape from.

Bass trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Bass knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rodgers on the ground.
Rodgers looking for a sweep. Not yet Rodgers , not yet.
Rodgers pulls Bass in close to prevent any damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Bass is posturing up here but Rodgers has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Bass tries to roll out but it's too tight and Bass has to tap! Slick submission there by Rodgers !
