Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Bagwell (ranked 4387 p4p, 4760 weight class) and Joe Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jeff Bagwell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joe Mendez! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, David Hoff and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bagwell throws a nice looking combination but Mendez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Mendez changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Bagwell closes the distance and clinches. Mendez working aggressively here.
Mendez wants to break free but Bagwell has control.
Bagwell prevents a body shot from Mendez. Mendez misses with a body punch.
Bagwell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Mendez swats away the attempt to clinch by Bagwell. Bagwell fails in his attempt to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bagwell misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mendez appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Bagwell misses with a double jab
and Mendez counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Bagwell connects with the punch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bagwell misses with a looping right. Mendez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bagwell is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Bagwell tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mendez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Mendez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Nice uppercut lands for Mendez. That snapped Bagwell's head back.
Bagwell tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mendez swats him away and circles back towards the center. Jeff Bagwell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bagwell throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Nice body punch from Mendez. Bagwell fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mendez, pushing him back against the cage. Mendez is trying to break the clinch but Bagwell is controlling him. Mendez fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Mendez lands a nice uppercut. Mendez has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Bagwell avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendez tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Bagwell's elbow. Mendez tries to throw a body punch but Bagwell avoids it by throwing Mendez back against the cage. Mendez swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Bagwell's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Mendez connects with a body shot that sends Bagwell's belly button to the back. Mendez avoids a punch combination nicely.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mendez punishes Bagwell's body with a nice straight punch. Bagwell misses with a double jab
and Mendez counters with a nice body shot. Bagwell throws a right and a left that both miss. Mendez appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bagwell drops his hands momentarily and Mendez takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Bagwell is looking to clinch but Mendez is avoiding it.

The referee is keeping an eye on Bagwell - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Mendez misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Mendez as Bagwell tries to tie him up. Mendez throws a head punch that misses. A frustrated look appears on Mendez's face as he tries to break the clinch. Mendez effectively controlling the action here. Mendez taking a breather. Bagwell tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Mendez avoids it. Bagwell manages to break the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mendez takes a swing at Bagwell's ribcage but misses. Bagwell fails with an attempt to clinch.
Bagwell is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Bagwell tries to close the distance and clinch but Mendez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Bagwell doesn't manage to clinch there - Mendez circles away.
Bagwell stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bagwell wants it to stay on the feet. Bagwell fails in his attempt to clinch. Mendez drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Bagwell defends it well. Mendez punishes Bagwell's body with a nice straight punch. Bagwell drives through and clinches with Mendez against the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Bagwell just misses with a elbow thrown towards Mendez's brow. Bagwell is pushing Mendez up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Joe Mendez will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Mendez fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bagwell looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Bagwell throws a right and a left that both miss. Bagwell misses with a left hand enabling Mendez to counter with a crisp jab. Bagwell gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Mendez.
It looks like Jeff Bagwell has been cut. Mendez jabs at Bagwell's body. Mendez is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Bagwell rather than just go for the knockout. Mendez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bagwell napping and manages to drive through into side control! Mendez connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Bagwell some visible discomfort.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mendez grinds an elbow into Bagwell's temple. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mendez throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Mendez has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Mendez cracks Bagwell with an elbow. That is naaassty.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bagwell taking a bit of punishment here - Mendez scoring with strikes. Mendez creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Bagwell wants to get back to his feet. Mendez lands a nice forearm strike. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mendez misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Mendez misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Mendez controls the position from side control. Mendez in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Bagwell tries to escape but Mendez is in control. Mendez working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendez scoring with punches and elbows. Mendez trying to control the position but Bagwell is working away. Bagwell is working to avoid the ground and pound but Mendez connects with a decent elbow. Mendez cracks Bagwell with a big right hand but Bagwell just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Bagwell is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mendez asserts his dominance and retains side control. Mendez sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Bagwell is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Mendez is trying to ground and pound but Bagwell uses the momentary lack of control by Mendez to regain half guard. Mendez scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendez trying to control from Bagwell's half guard. Bagwell has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Bagwell avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Mendez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Mendez postures up in Bagwell's guard and throws a big left but Bagwell blocks it. Mendez won't allow Bagwell to get back to his feet. Bagwell has his feet on Mendez's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Bagwell fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mendez let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Mendez fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bagwell looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Mendez scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Mendez with a body punch. A glancing blow. Mendez fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mendez fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bagwell looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Mendez lands an overhand right. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mendez dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Mendez catches Bagwell with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Bagwell takes a shot right to the bread basket. Bagwell takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Joe Mendez seems to be getting the better of the standup. Mendez ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Nice body punch from Mendez. Good shot there by Mendez. Jeff Bagwell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Bagwell throws a right hand that misses
and Mendez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Bagwell moves in looking to clinch but Mendez pushes him off. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Mendez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Jeff Bagwell's cut. That's time! Bagwell's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round! Mendez lands with a good body shot. Bagwell is looking to take this fight into the clinch. A little jabbing left from Mendez on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Mendez misses with a two punch combination.
Bagwell seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Mendez cracks a nice hook into Bagwell's ribs. Mendez lands a right hook to the body.
Mendez scores with a hook. Bagwell throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Mendez! But no joy. Jeff Bagwell is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mendez dips down and scores with a jab to the body. A nice combination there by Mendez.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Mendez circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Bagwell to the canvas! Bagwell doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Mendez keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
