The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Acker lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Chimaev with a poor takedown
and Chimaev takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Chimaev is rocked!

Chimaev has Acker up against the cage in a clinch.

Chimaev has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Acker clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Chimaev thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Chimaev is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Acker knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Acker for a finish.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chimaev throws strikes from the back but Acker rolls nicely and manages to end up in full guard. Nice work by Acker.

Acker swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Chimaev shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Acker is breathing heavily.
Chimaev lands a couple of digs.
Chimaev throws an elbow that misses. Acker uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Chimaev's guard. Nice move by Acker!

Chimaev is working an open guard so Acker takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Chimaev dives in and grabs Acker's left leg, looking for a takedown. Acker pushes down on Chimaev's head and hops out.
Goran Acker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Khamzat Chimaev.
Acker feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Chimaevs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Chimaev throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Acker's jab looks to have found its range, popping Chimaev under the eye.
Chimaev gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Acker gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Chimaev is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
