Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Yuuji Hoshino (ranked 3626 p4p, 5892 weight class) and Sextus Lentulus (ranked 232 p4p, 317 weight class). Sextus Lentulus acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Yuuji Hoshino! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sextus Lentulus! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lentulus uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hoshino.
Sextus Lentulus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lentulus throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Lentulus misses with the body kick and Hoshino makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Lentulus really felt that one! Hoshino looks to land a body kick but Lentulus moved away. And Lentulus tries to counter it with a takedown but Hoshino pushes his down on his head and steps out. Lentulus fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lentulus fails to land the takedown. Hoshino stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hoshino wants it to stay on the feet. Hoshino moves into range and connects with a jab. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lentulus tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Hoshino counters with a body kick. Hoshino misses with a hook. Lentulus ducked under it nicely. Lentulus is trying to counter with his kicks. Hoshino showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Lentulus.
Hoshino appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hoshino swings for the body but Lentulus moves out of range.
Hoshino is looking to slow Lentulus down with leg kicks. Lentulus takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Hoshino avoids the head kick by Lentulus.
Lentulus tries to close the distance and clinch but Hoshino swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Lentulus darts in and clinches Hoshino up against the cage. Lentulus jumps guard but Hoshino stands there with Lentulus around his waist. Lentulus gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Yuuji Hoshino has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sextus Lentulus. Lentulus manages to break the clinch.
Lentulus blocks a jab. Lentulus throws a right hand that Hoshino ducks under and follows up with a left that Hoshino also avoids with ease. Hoshino definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hoshino blocks a head kick by Lentulus.
Lentulus fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Lentulus takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Hoshino fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Lentulus looks for a takedown but Hoshino sprawls well. Hoshino stuffs the takedown. Lentulus tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Hoshino throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Lentulus moves in looking to clinch but Hoshino pushes him off. Hoshino cracks Lentulus with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lentulus fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hoshino avoids it really well and circles away. It looked like Hoshino wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Hoshino pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Lentulus misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hoshino throws a wild body kick that Lentulus sees coming a mile off. We've been informed that Lentulus has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Lentulus clinches with his opponent.
Hoshino stops a takedown attempt from Lentulus.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hoshino. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hoshino. Hoshino throws a head punch that misses. Hoshino tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Lentulus's elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lentulus pulls guard effortlessly. Lentulus pulls Hoshino in close to prevent any damage. Hoshino wants to pass the guard but Lentulus is keeping the position. Lentulus has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hoshino is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Lentulus. Lentulus tries to buck Hoshino off but Hoshino is having none of it. You can see the frustration on Lentulus's face as Hoshino controls the position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Yuuji Hoshino dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Nice sprawl there from Hoshino as Lentulus shoots in. Hoshino dips to his left and cracks Lentulus with an uppercut! Hoshino lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Hoshino scores with a decent looking hook. Crunch! Hoshino slams his shin into Lentulus's torso. Hoshino connects with a leg kick. Lentulus shoots and misses and Lentulus takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. A good leg kick by Hoshino. Nice takedown defense from Hoshino. No joy for Lentulus on that attempt. Yuuji Hoshino has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sextus Lentulus. Hoshino blocks a leg kick. Hoshino throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Lentulus stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Lentulus fails to land the takedown.
That's one minute gone in the round. A low kick lands for Hoshino.

Lentulus is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Lentulus swinging wildly here.
Hoshino does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Lentulus fails with the takedown and Hoshino counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Lentulus fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Lentulus tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hoshino was well out of range. Poor timing from Lentulus. Yuuji Hoshino is winning the standup battle so far. Hoshino throws a nice inside leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hoshino scores with a shot to the body.
Hoshino avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hoshino falls off balance throwing a combination
and Lentulus counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lentulus. Hoshino lands a body punch. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Lentulus jumps guard but Hoshino turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Hoshino is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lentulus can do to turn this around? Lentulus can't get the takedown.
Lentulus drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hoshino gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Lentulus is trying to pull guard but Hoshino turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Lentulus is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lentulus stalls. Lentulus is looking for a takedown. Lentulus breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Yuuji Hoshino is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Lentulus takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lentulus is defended easily by Hoshino. A low kick lands for Hoshino.
Lentulus takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Lentulus wants to clinch and Hoshino counters with a nice uppercut.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hoshino throws a push kick but Lentulus slaps the foot to one side. Hoshino sets himself, and Lentulus steps forward looking for the clinch! Hoshino avoids it this time. Lentulus moves out of range as Hoshino throws a body kick.
Lentulus tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Hoshino connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Hoshino throws a low kick but Lentulus moves out of range easily. Lentulus avoids a kick to the body.
Lentulus shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hoshino as he jumps to the side. Hoshino scoring well with a low kick there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Yuuji Hoshino dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Hoshino gets tackled into the cage by Lentulus. Lentulus maintains the clinch. Lentulus breaks the clinch.
Hoshino lunges at Lentulus with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Lentulus's hand. Hoshino tries to clinch there but Lentulus circles away.
Lentulus's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Lentulus shoots in looking for a takedown but Hoshino manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lentulus's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Hoshino throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Hoshino avoids the head kick by Lentulus.
Hoshino lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Hoshino misses with a body kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lentulus drives through and clinches with Hoshino against the cage.

Lentulus shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Hoshino throws a wild body kick that Lentulus sees coming a mile off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lentulus fails in his attempt to clinch. Lentulus gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Lentulus tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hoshino smiles and moves away.

Sextus Lentulus is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hoshino looks to land a combination. Lentulus sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Lentulus swinging wildly here.
Lentulus takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Hoshino avoids the head kick by Lentulus.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Hoshino lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Lentulus backs up against the cage.
It looks like Sextus Lentulus has been cut. Lentulus on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lentulus misses with a takedown attempt and Hoshino counters with a nice uppercut. Hoshino lands a leg kick that knocks Lentulus off balance momentarily. Hoshino slaps away a takedown attempt from Lentulus, before circling back to the center of the mat. Lentulus shoots for a double leg takedown but Hoshino sprawls well. He's pushed Lentulus's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Hoshino scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Nice body kick there by Hoshino. Lentulus tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hoshino jabs at Lentulus's body. Both fighters circling a little - Hoshino finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Hoshino connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Hoshino with a hook. Lentulus tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Good standup being displayed there by Hoshino as he connects with a hook. Lentulus on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Hoshino. Hoshino obviously looking to wear him down.
Lentulus blocks the body kick.
Lentulus misses with a takedown and Hoshino counters with a lovely straight right hand! Lentulus will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Lentulus changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hoshino tries to avoid it but Lentulus manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hoshino to the ground. Hoshino escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hoshino smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Crunch! Hoshino slams his shin into Lentulus's torso. A nice leg kick lands there from Hoshino. Lentulus takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Hoshino looks to land a body kick but Lentulus moved away. Lentulus has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Hoshino. Hoshino tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lentulus manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Lentulus tries for a takedown but Hoshino circles away easily and Hoshino counters with a stiff right hand. Lentulus takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Lentulus closes the distance and clinches. Sextus Lentulus has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Yuuji Hoshino is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Hoshino throws a punch but it's blocked by Lentulus. Hoshino misses with a short punch on the inside.
And that's the end of the fight! Yuuji Hoshino showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hoshino, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
