Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jay Walker!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James throws a head kick but Walker moves out of range.

A head kick misses from James.

Walker bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

James throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
James throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
James tries to clinch up but Walker circles away and keeps his distance.
Walker changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. James tries to avoid it but Walker manages to keep hold of a leg and drag James to the ground. James escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

James tries a head kick but it misses.
Jim James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Walker shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Walker showed some decent athleticism there.

Walker is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Walker is looking for a kimura but James is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Walker to get the leverage.

Walker seems to be working for a kimura but James defends the submission attempt.
James could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Walker seems to be looking for submissions.
Walker stops James from getting back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Walker is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so James is just riding it out for now. Walker eventually gives up the hold.

James keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Walker shoots in looking for a takedown. James tries to sprawl out of it but Walker keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. James manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

James tries to close the distance and clinch but Walker swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
James throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
