Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Corin David (ranked 2583 p4p, 3692 weight class) and Nicky Santoro (ranked 332 p4p, 432 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Corin David!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nicky Santoro!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santoro fakes a jab and throws a low kick but David checks it well.
David throws a body shot but no joy.
Santoro tried to score with a low kick but David checks it.
David half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

David keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Santoro throws a wild body kick that David sees coming a mile off.
Santoro lands a nice looking body kick.
Santoro takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
David swings widly with a right hand
and Santoro counters with a low kick, right behind David 's knee.
Santoro uses good head movement to avoid the hook from David.
David takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
David misses with a lunging right hand
and Santoro makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Santoro tried to score with a low kick but David checks it.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
David throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nicky Santoro is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

David on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Santoro. Santoro obviously looking to wear him down.
A low kick lands for Santoro.
Santoro moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
David uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Santoro.
David seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Santoro scores with the left hand. David knows he should have avoided that one.
Santoro avoids the body shot from David.
David blocks a head kick by Santoro.
Santoro misses with a leg kick.
David shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Santoro's guard.
Santoro wants to get back to his feet but David passes into half guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Santoro is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but David pulls his head out easily.
David looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Santoro won't allow David to pass to mount.
Santoro tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
David is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Santoro is just riding it out for now. David eventually gives up the hold.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. David lands a nice short elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
David working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Santoro felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
David is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
David tries to pass to full mount but Santoro defends it.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. David connects with a nice short shot to Santoro's temple.
David will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
David is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
David seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. David lands a nice short elbow.
Santoro makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Santoro.
Santoro wants to sweep but no luck.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
David stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Santoro swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Santoro is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
David lands a couple of digs.
David makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
David tries to free his leg and advance position but Santoro is retaining full guard.

David got a little sloppy there for a moment and Santoro has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, David has managed to get both his arms back between Santoro's legs - danger averted.
Santoro manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. David manages to get himself to full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Corin David dominated that round.
That's time! David's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Santoro motions for David to come forward. Santoro throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Santoro throws a front kick that sends David stumbling back into the cage.
David closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
David landing a few strikes.
Santoro is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
David lands some shots froms side control.
David is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Santoro can do to turn this around?
David tries to advance to mount but Santoro instead regains half guard.

Santoro wants to get back to full guard.

Santoro has hold of David's hands but David slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

David works his foot free and advances to mount.
David lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
David pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
David has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

David lands a couple of good shots and Santoro has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Santoro is rocked!

David scoring with big shots to the body. Santoro is looking for a way out. A despairing look towards the ref and the official steps in to stop the fight. Santoro was obviously done but didn't want to tap out.
