Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Remi Chavaski (ranked 165 p4p, 178 weight class) and Dick Winters (ranked 23 p4p, 25 weight class). Winters has chosen All Along the Watchtower as his entrance music. Remi Chavaski is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Remi Chavaski!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dick Winters!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Eliza Hachem and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Winters tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Chavaski swivels and escapes.

Winters manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Chavaski on his heels. He'll look to pass Chavaski's guard now, I'm sure.
Winters is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Winters won't allow Chavaski to sweep him here.

It looks like Winters might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Winters not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Chavaski tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Chavaski darts in and clinches Winters up against the cage.
Winters is trying to pull guard but Chavaski turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Chavaski is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Winters is defending well.

Chavaski has picked Winters up - he's going for a ride! Chavaski dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Chavaski is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Winters is just riding it out for now. Chavaski eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Winters moves into full guard.

Chavaski drops back looking for a leg! Winters is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Winters manages to kick Chavaski off! Chavaski jumps back into Winters's guard.
Chavaski wants to control from the top but Winters keeps moving.

Chavaski got a little sloppy there for a moment and Winters has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Chavaski has managed to get both his arms back between Winters's legs - danger averted.

Chavaski is really struggling to control Winters but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Winters can't keep his opponent in guard - Chavaski advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Chavaski tries to pass the half guard into mount. Winters knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Chavaski seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Winters has recovered full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Winters looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Chavaski wants to control from the top but Winters keeps moving.

Winters is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Chavaski is aware though and is defending well.

Winters controls Chavaski momentarily but Chavaski frees himself.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Chavaski tries to free his leg and advance position but Winters is retaining full guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Remi Chavaski will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Winters misses with a takedown attempt

and Chavaski decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Winters's guard.
Chavaski content to stall in guard here.
Chavaski might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Winters has his foot on Chavaski's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chavaski works his way back into a safe position though.

Winters changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Chavaski looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Chavaski is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Blaze Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Winters wants to lay and pray for a moment but Chavaski keeps working.

Winters is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Chavaski has escaped the position, nice work there.

Chavaski has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Winters is working away from the top position though.

Winters seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Chavaski wants to control but Winters is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Winters closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Chavaski to the mat! Chavaski manages to get full guard.

Dick Winters showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Chavaski throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Winters was covering up waiting for the punch and Chavaski finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Winters shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Winters was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Chavaski tries to lock up and control but Winters gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Winters has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Chavaski looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Chavaski rolls, trying to escape but Winters keeps control of the position.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Winters tries for a takedown but Chavaski sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Remi Chavaski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dick Winters.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Winters has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Chavaski has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
What can Chavaski do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
