Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Gracie (ranked 1305 p4p, 1088 weight class) and Shichiroji San (ranked 204 p4p, 169 weight class). San has chosen Seven Samurai as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Shichiroji San enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shichiroji San! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Summer Carpenter and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie avoids a punch combination nicely.
A looping hook to the body misses from San. Gracie does a little dance to reset his feet. Gracie shoots for a double leg takedown but San sprawls well. He's pushed Gracie's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. San gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. San is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. San utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie preventing the sweep. Gracie keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of San's head. Gracie wants to control from the top but San keeps moving. Gracie throws a strike but San rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. San defends it easily. Gracie is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! San has his hands clasped together but Gracie extends and breaks San's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Gracie.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). James Gracie! An out of breath James Gracie thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career. In defeat, Shichiroji San stepped up to the mic, saying 'It's all about life lessons'.
