Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ronald Graves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Franco Valdez! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valdez connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Graves fails with an attempt to clinch.
Graves is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Valdez circles away from the clinch attempt.
Valdez moves out of range of the body kick. Valdez throws a series of strikes that have Graves backpedaling.
Valdez misses with a few strikes there.
Valdez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Valdez moves out of range as Graves throws a body kick.
Graves lands a right hook to the body.
Graves shoots in and drives through. Valdez sprawls well. Nice takedown defense from Valdez. No joy for Graves on that attempt. Valdez goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Valdez lands a nice leg kick that just misses Graves's sensitive parts. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Valdez tries for a kimura but Graves is defending well. Graves is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Graves might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Graves can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Valdez has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Franco Valdez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Graves with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Valdez stops Graves from getting back to his feet.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Valdez rushes Graves and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Valdez scores with an uppercut up the middle. Valdez stalling in the clinch.

Graves drops back, looking for a kneebar! Valdez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Valdez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Valdez! Graves on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Graves tries to get out of the position. Graves tries to escape but Valdez is in control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Graves tries to strike but it doesn't land. Graves manages to get back to half guard. Graves pushes Valdez off and gets back to his feet. An inside leg kick from Graves misses.
And that's the end of the fight! Franco Valdez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Valdez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
