The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.

Perez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brunson pinned against the cage. Brunson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Brunson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Perez looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've been hearing good reports from Perez's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Perez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Perez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

What's Brunson going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.

Perez goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Brunson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Perez but great work by Brunson.

It looks like Brunson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Perez tries to roll over but Brunson keeps him under control.

Let's hope that Brunson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Brunson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Perez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Brunson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Perez is trying to maintain the position but Brunson is very close to passing his half guard.

Brunson seems to be looking for submissions.
Brunson is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Brunson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Perez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Perez.

Perez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brunson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Brunson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Perez is looking to cinch up a triangle. Brunson throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Perez's body to avoid the submission. Perez has instead reached around Brunson's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Perez arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
