The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Vagabov misses the target.
Vagabov throws a body shot but no joy.
Gonz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Vagabov manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gonz shoots in for a takedown but Vagabov shows good takedown defense.
Vagabov half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Gonz works over Vagabov's head and body with a nice combination.
Vagabov throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A shot to the liver by Gonz. Beautiful body shot.
Gonz displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Vagabov throws out the jab.
Vagabov could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Vagabov defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gonz.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Gonz tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Ilman Vagabov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Gonz.

Gonz fails to pull the fight into his guard.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Vagabov fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gonz sprawls well initially but Vagabov persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Gonz tries to get to full guard but Vagabov has control of the leg.
